I regret to inform all those who may have followed these discussion boards for the past two years that my friend and fellow Audiophile Paul Rosenthal who is known to you as Pubul57 has passed away suddenly earlier this week.
I was happy to know him for the past ten years in Baltimore and he exposed me to a plethora of equipment, advice and insight during that time.
Paul loved many fine things and had many great friends. I know he cherished the time he spent on Audiogon with all of you.
I know I cherished the time I spent with him, he was like the big brother I never had.
I hope you will continue debating what the best source is, or when is absence presence and remember our friend Paul; audiophile, philosopher, and friend.
Wow! a real shock though i didn't know Paul personally we had several audio discussions and his input was on point and valuable. He will missed on this forum however not forgotten. My condolences to his friends and family. Ted
This is indeed shocking and sad news as Paul was a relatively young man to be taken so early. RIP and my condolences to all family and friends. Paul, you will be deeply missed on this forum for your measured and thoughtful contributions.
That is a real loss for this forum. Paul's comments were always very appreciated here. I hope that there is a way that we can let his loved ones know how valued he was and how deeply missed he will be by this online community.
I did not know him, but have read his posts many times. As I remember, always a thoughtful and friendly person. It is sad to hear of one of us gone before their time. Sorry to hear of it. Condolences to those of you who knew him as a friend as well as his family. Rest in Peace!
Stunning saddening news. I considered him a friend here & sadly never got go hear his system if I ever got back to my hometown area of Baltimore which we talked about - I'm sure he would have extended graciously. He sure enjoyed his share of great gear & was always generous with his extensive knowledge. Condolences to his family.
I really did not know him outside audiogon but I live very close to Paul and we had discussed hooking up to audition each others gear not too long ago. I regret we did not have the chance to meet. My impression was he was a very devoted lover of fine arts and a good guy.

My deepest and heartfelt condolences. Paul was a wonderful Audiogoner whose participation here left us all with his presence. He and his always terrific contributions to the discussion will be sadly missed. I consider myself lucky to have gotten to know him to a certain degree through this site.
You have my sympathies, as well, for the loss of your friend. I enjoyed his posts, and never knew that he also lived in Baltimore. It would have been nice to be able to meet in person.
Very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I also enjoyed his posts. This may sound weird, can you let us know a recent thread he participated in? Maybe a few of us would like to go back and read some of his past posts through the years. This would be memorial of sorts.

There was a long thread about the lightspeed attenuator and passive pres that Paul started in 2010.
Thanks again to all who have taken the time to acknowledge Paul's passion for audio. Its very touching to me and his family and other friends. If we all could have the passion for one thing in our lives the way Paul did for audio the world would be a better place.
Indeed, I always enjoyed his contribution, and tuned in when I saw his moniker on a post. Much appreciation for his contribution, condolenses to his family and friends, and RIP Paul.
And as I mentioned earlier on, please pass along our deep appreciation for Paul sharing his passions and experience with us here. Deeply appreciated by this community. Hearing of his passing will make me appreciate all the more the opportunity to meet folks from this forum and other forums next week at AKFest. A glass will be raised to Pubul57 there, rest assured.

I am so saddened by this news. Between his posts and some emails, I developed a deep respect for Paul and I liked him a lot. This is terrible - for us I mean - Paul's in a better place. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends. Please excuse me, I think Im going to cry.
This is awful news!!! I always learned to much from his posts or his replies to others' posts. I didn't always agree with him but I found so much to admire in his knowledge and style. Very sorry to hear this!

Paul and I shared several private emails over the years, discussing things Merlin, tube amps (OTL esp.) and more. His insight, passion, and civility have been and will continue to be a model for us all. A real mensch! I was looking forward to meeting him at a show someday and will miss his presence here on the 'gon. My condolences on the loss of your friend, Audiodynamo and please pass on my condolences to his family. I hope they get some comfort from knowing how many people who never met Paul in person, considered him a friend and respected him as a human being.
I know this family is aware of how important Audiogon was to Paul, and I also know that they now know how important Paul's contributions have been to so many on Audiogon. I miss him alot, and I know that everyone that cared about him appreciates all the kind words.
I just saw this about Paul and I am saddened that we have lost someone who was always friendly, reasoned, and knowledgeable. I could tell from his posts, and our sometimes interactions on finding just the right preamp, that he was a solid and trustworthy individual. My condolences to Paul's family and friends.

I got the pleasure of speaking with Paul during a transaction we had, way back when. He was such a nice guy. I could easily tell he shared the passion with me. My heart feels heavy for him and his family. Audiodynamo- If you knew some of Paul's favorite music, I would love to know. It would be an honor to play something for him, in a future listening session. I am sure others here would like to join me for such a tribute! Cheers, Paul
