Audiopile hyperbole, reference, SOTA, ultimate and more...

This is not to be a put-down, just wanting to hear from my fellow Audiopiles on some
of the hyperbole/over used non-tech terms used in advertising items on this site.  It
would seem that many of us in this wonderful hobby have taken "creative writing"
courses.

And there is always the condition words...ie:  Mint, Like-New, ___ hours or less,

This is to be fun, if you are offended...well then that is part of the fun.

My all-time favorite post in English (though I believe that the posters native language was French) is...

"It was if I were in the listening room."

DeKay
"Rare" is the worst. Especially when it comes time for that rare piece of equipment requiring parts or repair.

Outside of hyperbole, the classic "my kid pushed in the tweeter/dust cap... does not affect sound." Uh-huh.
The Best, The Best Value, Reduced, I’ll cover PayPal, Minty, Perfect Condition, No original box, but..., Smoke-free, Child-free, Pet-free, No stories
I sure want to know it was in a smoke free house. Ever tried to rid a piece of gear of the smell of cigarettes? Oh my, not easy and it can overtake your listening room with that odor.
I agree with the "smoke free" thought.  I purchased an item that had the strongest cigarette smoke smell that I had no luck in getting out.  Sold it at a loss and posted the info about it having a strong smoke smell as I wanted a/the Buyer to know what they were getting.

Non-technical terms? You mean like advanced, space qualified or NASA grade, quantum, entanglement and mind-matter interaction? 👨‍🚀
Posting this thread after only one day and it is mint, the ultimate reference thread, totally SOTA for audiopiles. I love it and you can read all the great reviews, its universally well-regarded, and on Stereopiles Recommended Threads List. Only selling because I am upgrading to the contact cleaner thread.

Serious replies only please.

.........and, the speakers "play much larger/bigger than they are"

And the ever present, or perhaps not present..."transparent"
Words are just the personality of the seller and do help in general. I really just care about the piece being sold and do my own research anyway. In the end I am fine with all the different marketing copy and creativeness. If the seller is trusted and a long time member of superb standing, then I also trust the words regardless of all the subjective interpretations of meaning and motive. I see or interpret no warning signals by the words alone.
Perhaps, for the rock trivia fans:

"only used by a little old lady to listen to Beach Boy albums after driving her super stock Doge back from a Sunday service in Pasadena"

This is ebay rather than AudiogoN, but most used cars on ebay are now from a  "time capsule"
I think that hyperbole is to be enjoyed.
"I was more broke than The Commandments"
...and of course all equiptment being sold has had "rave" reviews.  ...and the sound is for sure "holographic",  like totally.

to quote a recent ad

like you’re sat in the recording booth with the musicians.

..variation on a theme(from a listing).  A speaker that "sounds bigger than it is"....

Golly damn,  do they make speakers that an ad could say, "sounds smaller than it is"....?
