Turntable question; Does Audio Technica make any good turntables?
My first turntable was the Miller Carbon, based on the Teres Audio bearing, platter and motor. I made the plinth of BDR Source Shelf, with several modifications and upgrades over the years. You can see it on my system page, with Origin Live Conque...
Gallagher has passed away.
When comedy was, you know, comedy. Forgot how funny he was. Thanks. RIP.
how to buy power cords that fit my components (i.e tight and snug)
Listen, if you absolutely insist on shimming it up to fit tight, at least have sense enough to ignore the awful electrical or teflon tape advice. Electrical tape is soft and squishy and the adhesive never hardens so you wind up with a goopy mess. ...
VPI HW-19 with Graham 1.5 arm Question/Suggestions
So nice to read a man who knows what he's talking about.
What selections do you play when showing off your system to others?
Good point. If the goal is to play something impressively good then it would have to be vinyl.

Origin Live flies under the radar once again.
Dedicated Electrical
Everything feeds crap back into the line. DACs and other digital gear with high frequency chips are probably much worse than subs. In general though it is fruitless to point fingers power is dirty, and more things being plugged in only makes thing...

First rule of audio, if you don’t hear any difference, don’t worry. My rule anyway, if I don’t hear it, why bother? So it seems to me you already have a power strip, in this case one called "Prometheus Power Flo" and so you might as well use it. ...

Immathewj, power conditioners used to be all over the map but today are like most things more consistently good. Even so they are like all components very individual and to be judged on that basis. The way I see it there are so many areas of impro...
Is This Black Enough for You
A clip from the movie, watch for it on the Directors Cut version!
Dedicated Electrical
immathewj- Your old vintage components are made that way because that’s the way pretty much everything was made back then. That’s the way the US electrical grid was designed to be run. Over the years though people get less and less educated, more ...
What should be mandatory in every professional published review-
The Stereophile comment is a good one. One of the main benefits of being able to post your system here is anyone who wonders what kind of a listener you are can go and see for themselves. If you want to make one thing mandatory for reviewers, this...

That's right. All wires pick up RFI. Just what they do. Look- what's an antenna? Nothing more than a piece of wire. The wire is cut to length and laid in shapes or patterns to maximize particular frequencies of interest, but basically it is just a...

How long can it float? What do you mean? In mercury? Seawater? Molten lava?  Specifications are technical. Where's Amir when you need him?
