The Jayhawks - Live From the Women's Club Vol. 1&2
Rare Earth - Live
Band of Horses - Live at the Ryman
Patricia Barber - Companion
BoDeans - Joe Dirt Car

No genre, just excellent live recordings that are often FAR better than the studio work from these artists. All of these are in my semi-regular rotation.

Depeche Mode -- Exciter
Nina Hagen -- Return of Mother
Jimi Hendrix -- Band of Gypsys
Frank Zappa -- The Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life
B.L.U.E. -- Brufford Levin Upper Extremities

Jethro Tull, A little light music. All semi accoustic recordings from a European tour in 1992.

Grateful Dead Live
The Who Live at Leeds
Cheap Trick Live at Budokan

Bob Dylan - Royal Albert Hall

Honorable mention : Led Zeppelin - How the West Was Won
I am generally not a fan of live rock and roll albums but would go with Supertramp's Paris.
Nirvana Unplugged

Most live albums are concert souvenirs, but this one is a revelation.

Little Feat - Waiting For Columbus
Dream Syndicate - Live At Raji's
Lou Reed - Rock N' Roll Animal

Surprised no one has mentioned The Eagles - Hell Freezes Over.  This is one of the best-recorded live albums I've ever heard.
Some really nice titles in there, with this single addition from me....

Alison Krauss & Union Station - Live

Been crossing my fingers that one of these days I'll find the MOFI release at a yard sale for $5.
Ronnie James Dio- The Last In Line                           Dream Theater -images and words.                            Firehouse- Firehouse.                                              Skid Row - Skid Row.                                                    Pantera- Cowboys from Hell.
More recently:

(1) Derek Trucks Band, Live at Georgia Theatre
(2) Gary Clark Jr., Live
(3) Widespread Panic, Live in the Classic City
(4) Crossroads (Eric Clapton Guitar Festival)
(5) John Prine, Live on Tour
Allman Brothers Fillmore Concert, YESSONGS and Feat's Waiting for Columbus. Every other is top 100 material.
As I opened this thread I was listening to Little Feat so I will go with:
Greatful Dead- Reckoning
Little Feat- Waiting for Columbus
Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band Live
Jason Isbell- Live From Alabama
Neil Young- Live Rust

Great list....the only change I would make would be Bob Seger Live ilo the Rolling Stones.

So many good ones above +
Disc 2 of Wheels of Fire    Spoonful one of the best live performances ever
Jimi Band of G
Les McCann & Eddie Harris Live @ Montreaux
 Janis& BBHC Cheap Thrills
Ten Years After Live

I definitely agree with the Tubes and the Eagles from earlier posts!
Easily two of the best live albums ever!😎
Frampton Comes Alive!
Peter Gabriel "Secret World Live"

Too many great live albums to narrow it down to 5! but that's okay with me😎
Depending on the rules, The Allman Brothers "The Fillmore Concerts", if that doesn't count then Live at Fillmore East, followed by Eat a Peach which is 3/4's live and has the sensational Mountain Jam, the Who's Live at Leeds, Little Feat's Waiting for Columbus, and the Live side of Cream's Wheels of Fire.  The only guitar player that has gotten in the vicinity of Duane Allmans performance at the Fillmore East is Stevie Ray Vaughn, but that's just my humble opinion. Long live the spirit of Brother Duane Allman!
*Pink Floyd Live in Pompeii
*Talking Heads Stop Making Sense
*U2 Rattle and Hum
*Doors  Live at the Hollywood Bowl
*Stones 72 or 74
1 more even though not ROCK
Keith Jarrett  Koln Concert.  Incredible stuff. Part 2a most beautiful music I have ever heard, in 54 years of life, PERIOD.

Gotta give mention to a few who selected
Yes Yessongs, solid pick.
Les McCann and Eddie Harris-- that album is incredible!  If you haven't heard this go get it!!  Its one of a kind.

Gotta go listen to that Tull album mentioned.

Oh 1 more should have been my top 5  Emerson Lake and Palmer Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends.

So Skynyrd One more for the Road
Santana Lotus
Emerson Lake and Palmer welcome back my friends to the show that never ends
Yes Yessongs
Allman Bros Live at Filmore

honerable mention
Keith Jarret Koln Concert
Les McCann Eddie Harris Live at Montreaux

All of these are great and many in my top 5. You have to add;
Stop Making Sense - Talking Heads
Queen - Live Killers
Dire Straits - Alchemy
U2 - U22
Concert for George Harrison
Eagles - Hell Freezes Over

rare earth

walsh   can't argue with a sick mind

beck with jan hammer

old steve miller king biscuit

focus  live on air.  really a fusion album that rocks hard

U2 Red Rocks deserves mention.  The Who Live at Leeds is more than a live album, it was a seminal revelation as to what Rock could be.  Transcendent.

Kansas: Song For America

Pink Floyd: The Wall

Jethro Tull: Aqualung Live (It is a better recording than the original.)

Stevie Wonderful: Songs In The Key Of Life.

Frank Zappa: Overnight Sensation

Lynyrd Skynyrd - One more from the road
Kiss - Alive I
Uriah Heep- LIve
Deep Purple - Made in Japan
Humble Pie - Filmore

+1 Allman Bros - Filmore
+1 Peter Frampton - Comes Alive
Sorry... Forgot one more. After meeting Vinny Appice and having a nice long chat with him I would be remiss if I didn't mention.

Heaven & Hell - Radio City Music Hall

(BTW - BEST Sabbath line up ever)

Oh boy, this is a tough one for sure.

I'll add mine in no particular order of preference

The Kinks - One for the Road

Kiss  - Alive 1

Peter Frampton  - Comes Alive

Frank Zappa  - Live at the Fillmore East 1971

Yes - Songs

To bad most live albums are such crappy recordings IMHO

Lots of great picks folks and I would only add: Supertramp’s “Paris” and with honorable mention going to Porcupine Tree’s DVD “Anesthetize, Live In Tilburg”
My favorites -
1. Allman Brothers Band Live at Fillmore East (ABB at their finest)
2. Ten Years After - Recorded Live (tied with the next two for best performance)
3. Humble Pie Live at the Fillmore East
4. The Who - Live at Leeds
5. Little Feat - Waiting for Columbus (best recording of the lot...)

A very close #5 would be Rainbow Live On Stage

Phil9624, I have a 45rpm EP of "Running On Empty" that BLOWS away the original lp!

Lucinda Williiams "Live at Filmore West"
Neil Diamond "Hot August Nights"
Aretha Franklin "Live at Filmore West"
Frank Black & the Catholics "Live at Melkwg"
Nirvana "MYV/Unplugged"
Eric Clapton "Unplugged"
Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary Celebration
Neil Young "Massey Hall 1971"
I also have the 2016 RSD Big Star "Complete Columbia" (live at the university of missouri 4/25/93)..GREAT!

I have a rare (tied by a ribbon, book cover of Joy Division "Still".

Hey there analogguy.

Thanks for reminding me about Humble Pie at the Fillmore.

Completely forgot about that and have not played it in years. Think I'll cue it up when I get home :)

Honorable mentions have to go out to:

Mahogany Rush - Live

Rush- All the Worlds a Stage

Neil Young - Live Rust

Yes, I'm Canadian LOL
