What's the heaviest speaker you've ever owned? What's the tallest?

Just wondering.

128x128roxy54

i remember them well. They were really shocking when they first appeared at shows with their huge size and unusual (for that time) driver arrangement.

I got a pair of custom ATC 110s from a classified ad.  They're around 15" tall and 100 lbs a piece.

Heaviest I think were cerwin Vega D9, or the 380 SE PAIR WERE HEAVY!

tallest

altec Lansing m510

The biggest Hales Transcendence 8 which I love have all replacement drivers if ever needed they weigh 160 pounds each, the smallest Tannoy minis in my bedroom which I’m currently using 11 pounds each sound phenomenal. The Hales for me are a never sell speaker. A lot of people have never even heard of them I also have a pair of Hales rev threes that weigh about 96 pounds. I use them in the home theater Hales 3,s for the front Hales transcendence T-1 center it weighs 120 lbs and Hales rev 1,s for rears and rear back

My RCA Photophone Shearer horn is over 12ft tall and is about 800lbs when assembled.

Tallest and heaviest were the 9 Kappas from Infinity. 59 1/2 inches. Don't know how much they weighed.

Salk Sound G25 Subwoofers. Two of them, weighing 192 lbs each and beautifully finished in mahogany to match Salon 2’s. Best built and sounding subs I have ever heard. They are so heavy, I’m not sure how Jim and his team managed to handle them during the difficult process of installing the mahogany veneer, without damaging them…

Heaviest = Velodyne DD18+ (current HT Sub) ~150lbs

Tallest = Magnepan MGIIIa ~ 6' tall

Legacy Aeris, I believe ~185lbs at ~60”. Not so heavy due to the top having a bit of open baffle.

Replaced with Wilson Yvette, which was 175 lbs at 41” or so.

Replaced with Borresen Z3 Cryo, which is about half the weight (85-90lbs) and same height.

Bigger is rarely better.

Swan HiVi F5 2 piece like a Wilson Watt Puppy top mounted soft dome tweeter like a B&W 800 series with a ribbon supertweeter, 6.5 inch paper midrange and a 15 inch woofer:

43 inches tall

Very wide and deep

250 pounds

I have a pair of giant metal Electron Luv 20hz front bass horns they are ea 1000lbs the mid horns etc ad another 150lbs so the total system is over 2300 lbs and is unmovable took 6 men to move 1 bass horn into position. it's about 11ft tall.
