Qobuz Connect working Beta demonstration....yay!

As I'm sure many Qobuz users have, I received an email from Qobuz yesterday, linking to a video demonstrating their upcoming Qobuz Connect function. This will be most welcome; something that's been long awaited and requested.

Looking forward to it 👍

As you can with Tidal and others, you can use the Qobuz native app to stream direct (Connect) to your streamer and bypass the streamers own app. Probably not the most technical of explanations but that's it in a nutshell

Apologies, I think the email was to Qobuz users who had signed up to the "Qobuz Club". I had to login to view the demo video

What is the advantage of bypassing the steamer app?

Some streamer apps have limited functions to the extent that they might be called "crude." Many would put Bryston's Manic Moose in that class.

I found the qobuz native ap better than some but much inferior to roon. so that is what I use.

Some people prefer the streaming company's own app; it's interface, playlist creation/saved playlists, recommendations algorithm etc.

Manic Moose is in it’s own special circle of Hell

I actually don't dislike it. It's stable. But it's obviously due for a refresh.

Bryston working on it now but its way behind schedule. It also works across all their BDP series even if its been discontinued like the Pi.

 The current version has the best sounding Radio Paradise app i have ever heard.

I was a Qobuz Beta Tester and a founding member of the Qobuz Club.

Here is the link to the article.  I apologize if it doesn't work.  Not sure if I can post it?

Now we wait for streamer support.

Years ago when I had Spotify, Spotify Connect worked great.

When I moved to Tidal I found that Tidal Connect to be pretty bad. It would glitch out at least once a week forcing me to remove and reinstall the app.

After switching to Qobuz 2 yrs ago, I have been putting up with Bluesound's rather limited, embedded "Qobuz app".... Which leaves a lot to be desired. A well integrated Qobuz Connect would be most welcome!

Thanks for the info. The Qobuz connection on Innuos sense is excellent, but will compare the Qobuz connect when available.

Thanks for the heads up. I will be very happy to try their version of Connect.  It’s a pain having to leave Conductor and go to the Qobuz app to add a tune to my playlist and the go back to Conductor to listen to it on my system.

Good to see.  The lack of sorting in favorite lists in the bluesound app drives me crazy.

@cleeds  +1

Manic Moose is a POS.  I do like my BDA-3 though very much (with Roon).

After just reading the antics you have to go through to get the highly hailed  Lumin Roon ready the old much maligned Manic Moose operates light years ahead in that capacity.

@jbuhl

Not sure what you are referring to.  I simply plugged in a Roon Nucleus+ appropriately and opened the Roon app.  The app found it on my network and upon entering the password it was ready to operate. Plugged in an outboard 2 TB drive and Roon cataloged all of that music, much of that is DSD.

My experience is everyone has a different experience.  Glad you like the Manic Moose.

Most of the time, I run Roon on an SGC/ST with a BDP endpoint as well.  Sometimes just for kicks I will switch back to Manic Moose to listen to Radio Paradise as the MM RP app, to my ears, has a little better sound stage.

It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the RP app vs ROON.

What I was referring to was the Lumin requiring a hard reboot to become ROON ready.  But it is possible that information is stale and it's easier to switch now.

@jbuhl

Have never listened to radio paradise. If my sound stage got any bigger it would be out of proportion.

I started out with a BDA-3.14 (which is a BDA-3 with a raspberry Pi internally, hence the 3.14).  The internal streamer kept on locking up.  Talked to Bryston and fat story slim they replaced it with a BDA-3 (free. no shipping either way, no tax) amazing customer service.

The thing I did like about MM (via a pc) was that it simply gave the URL to the 3.14 and then stepped out of the way. No music going thru a pc.

The Nucleus+ is outputting a digital stream to the BDA.  I can't say where it lands on the good, better, best scale.  But it sounds fabulous through my system which includes a Ref6 and a bunch of Pass amps.

Yesterday I received a Roon Nucleus Titan, not in the system yet.  I bought it because I am going to "try" to use the built in room correction and wanted the additional processing power it affords.  Weirdly, to me, it came with the Titan and a power cord and nothing else...zero, nada, nothing!  I guess they expect everything should be done on-line.

QR code to scan on the side of the box?

From Qobuz's current app, I can use Chromecast to connect directly,  is that not the same?
