Oyaide Cables
Information on this cable brand was showing up in another thread, which is fine, but I figured this cable line deserves it's own thread. I have very little experience with the brand so far as I have only had the Black Mamba V2 PC in my system for about 200 plus hours and just installed the TUNAMI GPX-R V2 PC last night. I only need one PC for my system at this time as my Integrated amp has a DAC and my music streamer doesn't take after market PCs. Firstly, the Black Mamba V2 PC is excellent. I know audio is very system dependent, but in my system the BM V2 was the best PC I have had, it really made a noticeable difference. It kind of gives you the best of both words, good clarity and extension but at the same time the system is relaxed and natural sounding. Very important if you have a lot of rock and pop and poorly produced material in your music collection. The Tsunami GPX-R V2 PC improves upon the BM V2 in that the air and spacing is better, the stage is deeper and wider, and the bass is still tight, but thicker. I am thrilled with these PCs so I ordered the Tunami Nigo V2 speaker cables and those should be here soon. I am very happen with the Western Electric 14 GA, but after hearing how good their PCs are, I just had to give the Oyaide SC a try. Anyway, bottom line is I suspect it would be very hard to find a line of cables that sound this good at such affordable prices. A Big thanks to Wig for letting me know about these PCs and Speaker cables and guiding me along.

I have also had positive results from cryo treatments to cables. @kclone Not dry. Grainy. But I’m guessing my cable is far from fully broken-in, and wanted to see if others heard this, or a change. @aniwolfe Not connected to, or used for. It’s in a separate system, or I wouldn’t be able to judge what each is doing as they break-in. |
@ sadono You have a Long way to go before complete burn-in, but grainy is not how any of my BM V2, Tunami PC or the Terzo IC sound; my experiences reveals a very open and transparent sound with a more relaxed presentation that envelopes behind the loudspeakers... Give them 250+ hours on a device that draws good current and you'll hear what many are talking about even on other forums. Wig |
@kclone @wig or anyone else with Oyaide speaker cable experience. Is the Oyaide TUNAMI II SP-B V2 the best speaker cable Oyaide makes? I'm in need of a 3/M speaker cable with bananas. Can anyone that owns the Oyaide speaker cables, make any comparisons to other speaker cables? Have any of you owned the Cerious Technologies Graphene speaker cables which I'm very familiar with? I'm currently using double runs of Duelund tinned copper in cotton oil impregnated speaker cables (16 & 12 gauge wire) that I made, sounds darn good, just wondering if the Oyaide could sound better? Thanks in advance... |
@lak Over the past 9 months I have compared Zenwave SMSG, Acoustic Zen Absolute Copper, Thales, Cerious Technology CTE and Deulund DCA 16Ga speaker cables and can honestly say the Deulund bare wire configuration took the prize… When I discovered Oyaide BM V2 PC a few months ago and I was so impressed with the sound quality that I just had to take a chance on their IC/SC and again it was a very good find. I did compare the Deulunds head-on-head with the Oyaide Tunami Nigor V2 and in my system, NO Comparison… I found the Oyaide to be much more refined sounding with better sound-staging (precision) imaging, depth, bass and transparency, in fact, the Deulunds sounded splashy in comparison and you will hear much more information with more speed and impact. The Deulunds are very airy sounding and I’m guessing that aspect is obscuring and masking low level detail; couldn’t believe what I was hearing and this was obvious from the start. My Oyaide 2.5M were around 440 from an authorized dealer in Japan and I’m very happy with their SQ. Wig |
There's a difference between a minimum safe requirement, and what's recommended. This guy says minimum 14awg for 15amps. https://www.thespruce.com/matching-wire-size-to-circuit-amperage-1152865 But many cable companies use 10awg for power amps or power conditioners that will be powering a whole system. I'll wait for the electrical engineers to provide the equations... |
I finally received my Oyaide Tunami Nigor V2 speaker wire from Japan yesterday (9/M total). Wow, I didn't realize how heavy duty these were going to be. Now to create some time to make these speaker cables and jumpers and burn them in on the cable cooker. @wig did you receive the PM I sent you yesterday? |
@tuffy72561 I think the Super Stroke is a good power cord, especially for its price of well under $99. With that said I find the Oyaide Black Mamba V2, TUNAMI GPX-R V2, Furutech SO22N, and Cerious Tech GE to be better, and kind of all in the same league, of course, the power cords I just mentioned are in the price range of $275 to $350. I'm hesitant to attempt to describe the sound of each power cord because quite frankly what I hear in my system is going to most likely sound different in your system. I have owned or had in my system until broken in all the power cords you listed above. I would say the upper-level power cords are the Furutech DPS -4 which might be better suited for digital gear and the Cerious Matrix that I believe would work on all components. If funds ($) are not readily available I wholeheartedly recommend the following; Oyaide Black Mamba V2, TUNAMI GPX-R V2, Furutech SO22N, and Cerious Tech GE. If this helps, I did not like the Black Mamba on my Plinius SA Reference amp, it sounded thin, the TUNAMI GPX-R V2 sounded good on that same amp. I'm sure some others will chime in, and be able to better assist you with your decission. |
lak, Thanks so much for the review. I tried one of Audio Archon's SO22N cords and it seems pretty close to my SR Black UEF cord on my amp. Hard to swap them back and forth. I have been so shocked by the sound quality elevation after putting Tim Mrock's Total Contact enhancer on my Teo Ultra Interconnect, Silnote Anniversary Speaker Cables and my tube pins in my preamp side of my modded Bada Purer 3.3SE integrated amp that power cable changes seem pretty insignificant by comparison. I think I may try one of Cerious Matrix power cords on my source. Please try the TC enhancer in your system. Results are silly good after only a one week in my system except for tube pins...two weeks. Tremendous 3D effect on sound stage especially depth in my sysytem. Low level detail and ambience increased markedly. I hate to say making my system more analog like but now probably a mating of the better of both digital and analog qualities for my digital system. Already well worth the 300 clams. This stuff is really easy to apply to. |
tuffy72561 I've been following the thread regarding the TC Enhancer and have PM'ed with Tim. I don't doubt that it's good stuff, I trust the ears of many of the posters in that thread. I'm just not ready to go that route yet. I assume you have also used the TCE on your power cords also? I do like the Matrix power cord, I had an opportunity to burn one in on my cable cooker for a friend, and then use it in my systems, if one has the money it's a good way to go. |

@tuffy72561 If you wanted to stay with Oyaide power cables I would recommend either the Black Mamba or the TUNAMI GPX-R V2. The Black Mamba is extremely flexible and lightweight for a 12 gauge power cord so it might work really well on your Sony SACD. Try your Silnote Poseidon ES Reference on another heavier component. The Cerious Tech GE and the Furutech SO22N are in the same league with the Oyaide power cords in my opinion, its just a matter of your personal tasts and to know that you really have to audition them in your system. |
I purchased a Black Mamba after pinging Lak for recommendations on affordable cables. I cooked them for about 4 days, plugged them into my Lumin A1 which feeds my Avantgarde Zero 1 horns and then took a listen. They sounded fine at medium levels, but at higher volumes, the sound was a bit too brittle or etchy for my tastes. No one on this thread had that experience, so I was a bit surprised. I put them back on the cooker for about another week then let them settle in the system for a few days. After proper burn in, the Black Mamba sounded very good. The "hard" sound was gone and I was left with an extremely quiet and transparent sound. These are among the most transparent cords I’ve used thus far, and I’ve tried a lot during my tweaking days. Imaging is good, dynamic swells are strong, and most importantly they sound pretty natural and effortless to my ears. For ~$230 2M direct from Japan, these could be one of the greatest bargains today. @Lak, thanks my friend for recommending the Black Mamba’s, they will definitely be powering my source in my secondary system, perfect fit. You were on point with all your comparisons and suggestions:) These provide high-end sound without breaking the bank, something which most cable companies lack. Even at the US retail price of $415 these easily compete with or better their peers in my experience. It’s refreshing to know we still have companies like Oyaide and Cerious technology offering cables that punch way above their price points. Happy listening! |
Anyone found Black Mamba's for cheap in EU? I'm going crazy, absolutely set on these cables but European dealers let you bend over so much it isn't even funny anymore. I could either grab a few meters of BM cable and attach some 004's to them, but of course European dealers have exorbitant prices, more than double of what dealers outside of Europe offer, especially for the euro plug version they thought it was a great idea to throw 150$ extra on it compared to a US plug. The other solution is to get the BM sigma with the (custom) 004's already attached, and is even cheaper than the DIY solution but of course only a 3 pin is available to buy, but I do know Oyaide has a European version of it as well but ofcourse no one seems to sell it. At this point I might be better of contacting Oyaide to place an order for 3 EU BM sigma cables + 4 PA-02 TX AES/EBU cables, it'll probably be several hundreds of dollars cheaper than here in the EU, absolutely shameful! Anyone in the EU with success please let me know, would appreciate it a lot! |
@nicked_wicked, even in the USA buying from a dealer one had to pay a ridiculous price which is why I purchased on eBay from reliable establishments. Several people posted that they purchased the Oyaide wire and built their own power cords and were very happy with them. Sorry, I have no EU experience. |
CPT Super Stroke is good for the money but in my opinion at the bottom of the list. I think the Oyaide Black Mamba, Furutech SO22N are a bit better than the Cerious Tech GE, which is also a very good power cord. I have no experience with Silnote power cords. Based on what you have stated I'd go with the Black Mamba, flexible, lightweight, sounds good with deep bass and a nice connection that will snap into outlet on your equipment. The Matrix power cord will be a lot less flexible and heavier, and the DPS-4 is a heavy power cord. |
I purchased a used Black Mamba Sigma V2 to replace an 18 year old Harmonic Technology power cable on my Zesto Andros 1.2 phono stage. I am quite taken with the improvement it brings to my system. The sound is more dynamic with a quieter background. Bass is tighter with better articulation. The sound stage is noticeably deeper and images are better defined. But, the most captivating improvement is the dense, rich tone through the midrange. Instruments and voices are more lifelike and involving. I haven't compared the Black Mamba to any other similarly priced power cables available today, but I am very pleased that such a performance increase over my previous power cable can be had for such a bargain price. |
Just installed an entire loom of Black Mamba V2s in my system. (preamp, power amp, dac, power conditioner) These are indeed fantastic cables, all of the detail without being too harsh. My only complaint is they seem just a tad slow and lacking in PRAT. Does anyone else have this same experience? They are broken in over 200 hours. |
Does anyone have an opinion on the Audience Au24 Power Cord (the original) vs the Oyaide Black Mamba Sigma V2? I am trying to decide. Both are similar (if not the same) copper; cast copper developed by Dr. Ohno of Japan I believe. The Audience is 3x more expensive (I am buying preowned) however I trust Audience since their Au24 RCAs and speaker cable ended my search for a transparent, open and neutral as well as non-fatiguing sound. I bought 6 different speaker cables and a dozen interconnects until I found then Audience and have been happy with them for 12 years. Feedback is much appreciated. |
