$2000 Dac

I have kept my eyes on the Dac comparisons. What I'd like to know is what Dac can I buy new or used for under $2000? I am looking for examples that don't throw the voices so far in front. Yes, I like the detail. I am coming from a Luxman dac that was very good, but I just felt the voices were too close, often pianos felt the same. Sometimes almost feeling a little glare as well. So, I am searching for a detailed dac with a little more laid back mids for under 2 grand, new or used. thanks

You’re overthinking it.  The bottom line is how it sounds.  If you can find a better DAC without other features for the same or less $ then fine, but I don’t think excluding the R26 because it has extra features but is otherwise giving you what you’re looking for in your price range is very wise reasoning.

No PS Audio fans here? I like my Direct Stream DAC. The previous generation can be had for under $2000.00 VERY nice. If anyone here has A/B the PS Audio to one of the DACs listed here, please share. One thing I like about PS Audio; I think they'll stick around for awhile.

your above  comments on Gungnir 2  - are these comments or experiences based on the new Multiform Gungir 2 or the previous genearation?

I don't think the Gungnir 2 Multiform is available for purchase yet, but I am looking at that new model

Thanks,

Denafrips Pontus 15th at $2,019 brand new, no doubt. This DAC is basically the Venus 12th DAC, which was priced over $3,000.

Tons of user love, great reviews......just a beautiful DAC; and what I'd spend my own hard earned $2,000 on.
