What is your most beautiful component?
Sound qualities set aside... What is the most beautiful component in your system. If you can please provide links to a picture of it. For me it is my Basis 1400 turntable. This turntable is a piece of art. Unfortunately, I cannot find Basis' home page.

My 1983 Beosystem-8000 is my pride and joy. The Beomaster-8000, Beocord-9000 and Beogram-8002 are nested in the B&O SC80 Cabinet and drive a pair of Beovox MS150.2. This system was and is visually stunning and the sound and pure power still thrill me 22 years later. I have since the inital purchase added one more Beosystem-8000 and two Beosystems-6000 driving Beovox-5700, S75 and S45.2 |
I don't own them now, but my Cary V12 Monoblocks were a sight to behold. Turn the lights down and see 24 X EL34's glowing in the room, then switch the lights back on and see the two chasis painted in Jaguar Carnival Red!! Wow! I find my Maggie 3.6's sleek and attractive in a perverse kinda way. Hmmm.... Rooze |
I love my Bruce Moore Custom M120 mono blocks, but everyone who sees my system goes gaga over the Oracle Delphi MKV turntable. I must confess, it still makes my gape at it too. Not to be forgotten are the humble little Gallo Reference 3 speakers with the grills off. Not beautiful, but somewhat fetching in a techno geeky sort of way.. David |

I've put together the following system: Transcriptors Skeleton turntable Lecson AC1 preamplifier Lecson FM tuner Lecson AP3 power amplifier Gale GS401A speakers with chrome stands I'm really looking for a CD player that aesthetically matches these, realizing it won't be of the same vintage. my tyler acoustic woodmere's . they were done in a matched pair of ebony maccassar. the supplier found me 3 matched pairs that i did another speaker pair in . the quality of the wood cut is not like they typical ribbon cut and can be seen on my site under millenum system /done for now. when looking at the pictures enlarge them for a better look at the wood. audo physics and snell charge $5000.00 for this upgrade and from what the supplier told me with this wood gettin matched pairs is like having one of a kinds. ty charged me $950.00 !!! ty's speakers and having input on what is being done adds to the fun of just ordering the same old same old from the other manufactures BILL L |
My recently aquired Jadis Orchestra Reference . Currently close second is the Transrotor SIRIUS turntable, third the Jadis Phonostage DPMC. I am looking at near future aquisition candidates: La Luce SpJ TT, Transrotor Orfeo TT or Clearaudio Maximum Solution TT. JOR still may remain the most beautiful..... Will report back soon!! |
My cherry wood Cain & Cain IM-Ben's(pic) w/ matching Bailey subs & amp stands. There are times when sunlight streams through that window hitting them, that the cherry grain looks like flowing pearlescent liquid. Never ceases to take my brath away. |
I agree with Doug Schroeder ... the Pathos Classic One MkII looks clean, simple, and stunning ... lots of thought went into this amp. I owned one for 6 months or so and hated to part with it, but it wasn't a good match with my speakers ... and I most definitely wanted to keep the speakers I had (and still have). |
Martin Logan Aerius i's. Not exactly beautiful, but certainly striking. They're my pride and joy. My Adcom, HK & Behringer electronics are strictly two-baggers. But, they sound great. I'm single and frankly don't care if the stuff looks like junk, as long as it sounds good. That's what audio cabinets with doors are for. Come to think of it, my old AR ES-1 turntable with Sumiko MMT arm (currently collecting dust in a closet) is pretty darn pretty, especially with the dustcover off. |
Toss up: Basis 2001 in black. Cary SLI-80. Silverline Sonatina II in rosewood. Funny, your question made me realize that I've been gravitating to gear that both looks and sounds good. Why looks? Well, the system is my living room! When is the last time you bought a sofa or table for your living room based purely on functionality, ignoring looks? Art |
Hey Maxxc, Agree with you re: the Focus Audio 688's - mine are Burr Piano walnut. I also have a pair of Focus Audio 888's in the Burr Piano Oak and they are visually stunning . . . so it's a toss up for the "1A" spot. The looks and comments from friends that drop in are priceless - without exception everyone has to touch them. The best part is then when they eventually hear them :))) !! Actually it's my vintage early 60's Heathkit/Daystrom AA-151 tube amp and matching AJ-11 tuner. Burnt orange cabinet and a charcoal with black horizontal pinstripes faceplate, and a cool chrome visor (physically in mint condition). Also has the vintage knobs and the red/black/chrome logo. Even the sectioned off horizontal heat vents on top look cool. |
I will give it to Wavac PR-T1. The Kharma 3.2 are superb looking speakers too. For me the system components are important visually. You wont listen to your music 24/7, but if it is in your main room, you see it many more hours, when you actually listen to it. Sometimes, I just can not find the right CD to listen to. So, I switch it all and just sit, and watch. We all like to see beautifull things around us. |
