Difference between Burmester 979 and MBL 1521A
Jackaroe, without doubt the 1621A/1611E that you had before is better than the latest 15xx duo. Sounds to me like you're missing that old Reference sound.. If possible where you're at, try borrowing 1621A/1611F and see what happens! And yes, you'r...
speakers for classical music
I use MBL 116, which is fantastic on classical (which is what I listen to mainly). Highly recommended. Another speaker I have massive respect for is the Acapella Violon. Pair that with some dynamic tube amps (CAT or Jadis for example) and you have...
Why do digital cables sound different?
I've just read this thread with great interest.I did some tests on my MBL transport and DAC (1621A/1611F) which I find interesting. It has multiple inputs and outputs, so I can run several cables in parallel and switch the input on the DAC via the...
Anyone tried Tesla Digital cables
Try this experiment first: alongside your current cable between transport and DAC, grab any other cable you like (cheap RCA or optical will do) and connect it to another set of out/in ports. Now, put in your fave CD and start playing. Then, using ...
Sonny Rollins - Saxophone Colossus - best LP?
Yeah, "Way Out West" is another favorite! Fortunately I've managed to find the 45rpm version from AP. "The Bridge" is superb as well. Those three are easily his best albums in my opinion.By the way, if you like great sax players - check out Barney...
AudioMetallurgy Zero I.C.'s
Told you - Statement One (with Acrolink plugs)
AudioMetallurgy Zero I.C.'s
Ozzy, I did use the Teslas throughout. I had the Reference AC chords (there were no Tesla power chords back then), the Precision Reference interconnects and I switched back and forth between Acoustic and Precision speaker cables. Then I took all of...
Difference between Burmester 979 and MBL 1521A
The 16xx duo has that extra bit of refinement I'd say. When you go from 15xx to the 16xx in the same setup, it's like you go from "this is great!" to "ahhh.." ;)The presentation has more air, the resolution is slightly better, and it all sounds so...
AudioMetallurgy Zero I.C.'s
In my all-MBL system I use AM Zero's throughout and their Golden Reference speaker wire. Sounds fantastic to me. :)I did experiment with Synergistic Teslas (Acoustic and Precision Reference models) before deciding, but they wouldn't provide anythi...
Difference between Burmester 979 and MBL 1521A
As a happy owner of the MBL 1621A transport, I'll say you can't go wrong with the MBL. Coupled to a nice DAC (like MBL's own DACs, they are fantastic at all price points) I strongly doubt you'll ever need a new Red Book front end. The 1521+1511 co...
YG Acoustics add in Stereophile
Well, I've heard the Anat stand-mounts and the same model with the bass module (the model name escapes me now) at my dealer's, with top class electronics, and I sincerely don't understand what the fuss is about. Right, they sound good, no doubts a...
Anyone tried/owns Origin Live Enterprise tonearm?
Thanks Ian, that was encouraging to hear. I'm glad you're enjoying your music! :)I'm in Sweden, and unfortunately there's nobody stocking the OL arms up here. I'll see if I can borrow one directly off Origin unless I can persuade my dealer to get ...
Sonny Rollins - Saxophone Colossus - best LP?
Thanks Mike, I'm afraid your reply was just what I expected.. Ah well. ;) If anybody wants to sell me this 45rpm set, please send me an email!Digsmithd - oh yes, indeed!!
Picture discs - Collectors items?
Be vary with picture discs. There are SO many bootlegs out there, it's really hard to tell what is legit and what isn't.Besides, like others are saying - they do sound crap!
33 1/2 compared to 45 rpm ????
Very interesting, thanks Raul. I must've had luck then, or I should just compare more often!I must say that most of my 45rpm's are pretty new releases, that might explain a few things. I'm listening to and am being stunned by Music Matters for exa...
