What do the three numbers represent???Don, it appears that the first number is the sum of the scores in his three "technical categories"; the second number is the sum of the scores in his seven "sonic categories"; and the third number is the overall score, that being the sum of the first two numbers.
Congratulations to Chayro, the leader so far :-)
I dont believe that 'grading' belongs to philosophy but
well to logic and mathematics. In the ordinary language
we have the metaphor about the forest and the trees of
which a forest consist while nobody believes that an
forest can be described by the enumeration of the trees.
I am very reluctant to say whatever about mathematics but
if I remember well there is this so called 'ordinal ordering'
by which we name the first, the second, etc.,
place for something or other. Even the grammar seems to
prescribe some order by, say, comparison in lenght. So
if John is the tallest guy in the class we can't say:'but
Peter, Don, Lew and Nikola are of the same length as John.
I have some idea about the 'why' of this disorder but this
is pure speculation. The case is that in the so called
socialistic coutries the 'dialectic logic' was/is considered to
be superiour to the capitalistic logic. This 'dialectic logic' is
attributed to Hegel. I have read (really) his 'Science of Logic'
for which ,uh, comrad Hegel needed 650 pages.
I learned something about logic from Frege but was not
able to find one single sentence on those 650 pages that
has enything to fo with logic.
My further assumption is that comrade Grgaudio got his
basic education in the former Sovjet Union with Hegelian,
uh, 'logic' included.
If you want to include yourself into discussion- please find someone who's willing to spend time with experts like yourself. I respect myself a bit more involving with person who mounts Dynavector 13D on Dynavector headshell upside down and when asked why-start giving just regular meaningless phrases based on his vivid imagination. Please stop bidding on my cheap cartridges I sell for $120 and ask to give you discount.
I would also recommend to you not to use words like MORONS and NONSENSE-respect other people who came to AG discussion forums for fun and help but have to read this. Be happy with yourself at the point where you are and let other people do the same.
Well, this is my last response to the subject. For you personally: go to the beginning of the post and read the first sentence: "Didn’t mean to drop the list for public use, It is my guidance in buying and selling cartridges." And if this is not enough there is another one at the end of the paragraph: "This was mean to be for my personal reference only."
I do not teach anyone unless they ask my opinion on the subject.
AS for your believe in saint audio reviewers -most of them are doing good job making extra cash. Once again-extra cash. The are good writers and get new inventory only based on good reviews. No honey- no money- that's the only rule in review writing. Grow up already!
And to put the last nail in the coffin of your believe- sometimes they not even listen to a new cartridge- the goods go straight to me and I give my opinion after listening test. Not often, but in more then dozen reviews you were reading me.
Please use the list or ignore the list- it is there for everyone's view. I'm in title of my opinion based on fact that I have or had pretty much every single phono cartridge in existence. Good luck to everyone
Frankly I did not hear even a 1/10 of this list to comment on it.
All I know based on my personal emotional evaluation is that ADC TRX carts stand sky high above all Ortofons, ATs, Shures and Empires that I used on various turntables during my life.
Pleased to witness both of TRXs hold the ranking they definitely deserve.
To paraphrase, 75% of cartridge damage is the result of mounting and aligning. “Scary but fact.”
Facts can be corroborated. Would you be so kind as to cite your source for this fact? Much appreciated.
By the way, the best of my cartridges only made it to 43, Kiseki Purple Heart Sapphire. I do have quite a few in the top 250 though. Having those ghost cartridges at the top of the list is worrysome however. Don’t know if I am going to be sleeping tonight.
