Fidelity Research FR-7 Repair
"The protractor'', ''an protractor'''or ''whatever protractor''?The tonearms lengths are 9'', 10'' and 12''. They ''assume''different effective length. Aka the stylus distance to the pivot.Letch owns 10'' tonearm (FR-64) while eff. length is 245 m...

letch, you can use your FR-7 as model for all other headshell/cartscombintaitons. But you need an PLASTIC caliper for this purpose. You measure the stylus distance in your FR-7 (integratded) headshelland use this distance by other combos (aka adjus...

Letch mentioned to own FR-64 . If so then he owns FR-64 withaluminum wands . The lateral balance is also different from 64S.Anyway if the spindle to pivot distance is right he can fasten hisFR-7 direct to the arm without any  tractor. After all he...
Retipping Cartridge
Thanks uberwaltz,  My Sony XL 88 D and Kiseki Agaat arewaiting  4 years for this possibility.
Retipping Cartridge
Bravo chakster, if your writting is meant as dissertation you get from you older brother an 10. There are two kinds of contributionsin our forum. Those who use arguments related to the subject-matter and those who argue  against the writer using t...
Retipping Cartridge
The obsession with retips is curious because there are othermore difficult repairs important. The coils are the most difficultto repair even assuming that someone is willing to mess withcoils. Then damping is anyway more difficult to do then retip...
Retipping Cartridge
Retipping is one of the possible cartridge repairs . Besides itmay mean cantilever/stylus combo or stylus only retip. Thenthere is also the price for each. You provided unsufficient infoto justify your P&R for ''the clinic''.
Fidelity Research FR-7 Repair
Dear chaksrer, you are again back to parts. Lets talk about them. The coils are the most difficult to repair. Nobody wants to messwith those. Then there are dampers. No retipper has the ''original''but, say, 3 unknown kinds meant for different comp...

Dear chakster, Our ''dispute'' become very difficult if one confusespindle to pivor distance with effective lenght and persist inbelieve that manufacturer ''know better''. As Raul and Kessler&Pisha have shown neither of all 22 tonearms are wit...

Again assumptions. They probably will but this would imply Stevenson geometry. My FR-7 fz sample .is retipped by Van den Hul who increased the cantilever length  to fit Bearwald geometry. So I got boron cantilever with Van den Hul (aka Gyger) styl...

''Pure theoretic'' consideration means without any experiment orexperience. This is identical with ''assumptions only'' aproach. So the only possible check is logical: if the assumptions are nottrue then neither are deduced statement. Our chakster...

Hi letch, By Yip from Mint tractor you need to provide him withexact dimension of the spindle of your TT (those differ in thickness) as well which geometry you want. He can than make an specialtractor for you. If you chose for Bearwald geometry yo...

letch, ''They said my cartridge survived the damage but neededrepalcement''. This make no sense. Not the cartridge but thecantilever/stylus combo needs replacement. They suggested themost expanisive alternative. Deed they mentioned the price? My es...
Fidelity Research FR64s Headshell dilemma
I use an plastic caliper to determine stylus distance in anyof my headshells. The measured distance can then be usedby each headshell. To check the result I use Mint tractors foreach of my 3 tonearms. No problem at all to get this within1mm value.
Fidelity Research FR64s Headshell dilemma
Stylus shapes.  By way of introduction. Peter wanted to impresshis friend John with his new swimmming pool. After some time heasked: ''and what do you think?'' John; ''well how should I putit but is 3x3 m, not to small?'' Peter: ''you idiot the po...
