If so, it's one of the smartest moves they have made. However, their reputation as an affordable speaker company is on the line. ;) I would guess the MSRP about $20K.

Now they really need to start considering a small form factor version of this for the Mini Mag.  ;)

Yep, that's all the working class hero needs is another high priced giraffe sized Loudspeaker...............lol
Shame Magnepan were not at the RMAF this year to show their new $650 MMGi Loudspeaker.

Thoughts on the Sanders 10e speaker that's around the same price point? Haven't heard it but Greene just did a review in the latest TAS which was a rave.
Yup ;-). My T-IVa have the two bass panels hinged together, with the tweeter/midrange panel separate. The current MG20.7 is around the same price as the Sanders ESL, and that is a tough choice, they're both great speakers imo.
for when Sound Lab speakers look too small in your room...

- I'm glad they are making them tho
i would just want to buy the Bass panels.

That would be a excellent way to add more bass to existing Maggie setups. If they could be used with other speakers, I wonder if Magnepan will offer them separately?

Also, they haven't said or showed how the panels hookup.  Maybe an external crossover, or someway the mid/tweet panels wire into the bass panels.  Will be interesting to see how they have done it.
I love Maggies.....except they don't last long.  They self-delaminate after a few years....(5 or so)   Maybe the brand new ones are using a different Dupont(?) product...I would hope.
Magnepan has changed to a different glue. The delamination problems of the past are just that.
I have owned several maggi, sizes and  why cant they make a completed Spesker
They all ways have cheap resistors, and capacitors, as well as wiring. I always upgraded the caps and resistors to start with Quality  a $70 cap not $7
And munforf ,mills or Duelund resistor , as well as fuses. And why must you always have yo buy a me stand in a $5or $10k+ Loudspeaker. A Se option
To be right would be a instant success .  Just look at the Magnestand mods in Pa.
I have been doing my own mods for years and it is just shocking when you know
From your customers all the weaknesses .from decade to decade and just keep
Doing the same old thing . Most people Donot,or cannot upgrade their speakers.
A totally hotrodded model from say a 1.7 on up not only makes a lot of sense
But would generate s lot of sales ,and make a Lot of Maggi owners Very happy.

people have been asking them to bring back the Tympani and it seems they listened!

I am officially jealous...

These are for dedicated listening rooms only.

How many audiophiles have a room large enough to optimally set these up?

ZERO WAF. No one is going to get those giant things in the living room past their wife.

I’m getting a set in all-black.
To Audioman58,  anyone in the Phoenix Az. metro area do these mods that ur aware of?
There's an early review up at TAS now, and it's a rave:

Mitch, all black so your wife doesn't notice them? :-)

Mofimadness, several people asked whether the panels would be separately so I asked Magnepan and they told me that for several reasons it wasn't practical. Also, according to TAS, they use 6 dB/octave crossovers and don't have a separate crossover box.

Ah, well, back to scratching off lottery tickets . . .
@josh358...THANKS for the info! Much appreciated.

I was expecting around $24K.  $29,000 is a chunk of change.
Ah, $29K; they are moving toward Vandersteen territory, breaking out of the pure value play. They may, and I say that cautiously as there is no certainty as to the innards, be finally building a true extreme speaker.
When my husband bought his first set of magnepans our landlord walked in and thought they were solar panels lol..anyone hear of Goldmund Dialogues?
