Mild Electric Shock When Touching Shunyata Alpha NR Plugs

I got a mild electric shock from a Shunyata Alpha-X NR plug when I accidentally touched it with my fingers after it’s unplugged from the outlet. Is this normal or has anyone experienced the same? Do the NR plugs store electricity in them after the cable has been used for a considerable period?

Someone will correct me on this but your amplifier stores electricity, often quite a bit, in its power supply capacitors.  So the Amp, not the wall supply,  has probably shocked you.

@jea48 @coppy777  the entire power cord including the IEC was disconnected from the amp. I got a mild shock when touching the pins. The shock was still there even though the whole power cord was disconnected from the system after 1 minute. I tried touching the pins after 10 minutes and there’s no more shock. Weird.

If you were to contact Shunyata I'm sure they would have an answer for you. Please post your findings.

They are short on the details on their site, but they claim to have multi-stage noise reduction.  If that actually applies to the cables it's possible they have a series mode filter or small resonant circuit.

If you are sure that the cable was disconnected on both ends, then it must have some power storage.
