Can Audiogon compete with AudioMart (US and Canuck)

Back in ‘97, AG was the place to go for used gear. Those days are a distant memory!

A lot being said here that's been rattling through my mind for the last couple of years. For me, the most valuable feature of the AGON site is this very forum. Contributors have been very helpful to me answering questions I've posted. I haven't tried to sell anything here in a long time though, as it looks like the focus has shifted to larger dealers and de-emphasized us individual sellers, and fees have ratcheted up considerably. Plus, last time I tried to list something here, they wanted me to list my SSN, which I simply will not do for a site like this. Okay, I get the reasoning for that (1099 forms because of new regulations) but that's beyond my tolerance level.

I had very good luck selling here years ago, before all the changes. I'm still perfectly happy to buy from AGON listings however. For selling, I think the USAM site is more useful to me these days, though to be honest, almost all my transactions over the last several years were though TMR Audio and I've been very happy dealing with them even if I could probably get a higher price on this or a similar site. Sorry, I remain a bit leery of E-Bay even though they seem to have very robust buyer protection.

Audiogon has already cornered the market on pretending speaker cables and power cables change sound. Those would sell better here than any other AV site I know. I say Audiogon lean into what they do best.

No pretending @squared80 , they actually do change the sound. If you can’t hear it, doesn’t mean others can’t. Just consider yourself lucky, be happy with your lamp cord and laugh all the way to the bank…..

I've been looking at Facebook Marketplace. The prices there seem to be all over the place. It's mostly vintage equipment like idler drive turntables, reel to reel tape players and FM multiplex tuners.
