How does a preamp die from sitting unused for a few months?
C’mon guys, it’s an Inspire preamp built by Dennis Had, in his retirement. I’ve owned 2 and still use one. If it ever failed to power up I’d do the simple thing; Box it up and ship it back to Dennis for inspection and or repair. Dennis, could perh...
My First Stereo. What Was Yours?
5 foot tall Walnut speakers that had Passive Radiator’s with Heil Air Transformers driven by a receiver. Man, I wish I had those speakers today.
Records and CDs
Someone listens to new music? Gulp! I’m stuck in the 60’s, 70’s. And for jazz the 50’s was a hot time with everlasting hits. In fact the biggest selling jazz album of all time is from 1958. So it’s records always for me!
20 Years?
@lou_setriodes you know what, I’m retired, and been around this place too long, but I rejoice in the fact that I grew up in a time when music was music. We had it all! Peace
20 Years?
I’ve been here since the beginning in 1997. Many of us were recruited from Usenet and Rec.audio. And if you remember those you’re old too!

So, if you’re using 60’s 70’s gear, you absolutely must have a Turntable!
A Few Nice Words For Upscale Audio

Selling here on Audiogon
Many here weren’t around to experience AG in its heyday. This place used to be the hottest place on the net when the net had barely developed. I received an email from an individual who had been monitoring members of Usenet and rec.audio forums wh...

@mckinneymike to be honest there are so many soul hits between 1963 and 1979. Between Motown, Stax, and Philadelphia International Music, for those of us who grew up during this period our musical experience was unequivocal. And to top it off we h...

@paulietunes , Congratulations Paulie! If you dig soul check out anything from the Philadelphia International Records catalog released from 1971-1977. The owners of the company, Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, were actually superb songwriters and prod...
Your Not-So-Obvious Best Fidelity LPs
@paulietunes , if there was only one record that was an absolutely must have it would be Billy Paul’s 360 Degrees of Billy Paul. Each song is superbly well done, and a hit in its own right. His take on Elton John’s ‘Your Song’ and Al Green’s ‘Let...

What to do with a large collection
I could never get away from owning physical media. I’d be too attached to my records and cd’s to part with them.
