About ready to give up on Roon and my streamer
I've jettisoned Roon from the chain and am connecting to Qobuz directly through the Innuos Sense App, using a Samsung tablet. That was the principal reason for trading the Sonnet Hermes for the Innuos Pulse Mini. While I do miss the Roon interface...
About ready to give up on Roon and my streamer
Updating the update: I’ve put some significant hours into this now, and I assume the Innous streamer has sufficient hours on it and it’s burned in and sounding as it should. However, my complaints about what I’m hearing remain unchanged. There are...
Anybody heard the new Audiolab 9000CDT yet?
Might not be clear from my original post and the follow-up, but the 6000CDT was running through the AMR DAC, so I could do a direct comparison between it and the Cambridge Audio CXU with the same DAC. I had already parted company with the 6000CDT ...
Anybody heard the new Audiolab 9000CDT yet?
And now, just to make things that much more interesting, there's the Schiit Urd to throw into the mix. The Audiolab 9000CDT and the Schiit Urd have features that won't be that useful for me, but they both seem to elevate CD playback significantly....
About ready to give up on Roon and my streamer
Update from OP: Thought I’d try a different streaming device, so I’ve replaced the Hermes with an Innuos PulseMini (about the same price range) and can now stream directly from Qobuz without Roon in the middle. Results are encouraging, but I’m not...
Is ethernet output a possibility for the Innuos Zen MK3
I think ethernet out from a streamer/server to a DAC is a very unusual architecture, but it is what Sonnet uses for the I2S protocol. It's a LOT more common to do this via HDMI, but Sonnet doesn't provide an HDMI port. I guess they have their own ...
Would a Topping A90 or A90D be a significant upgrade from the A30 Pro?
Well, this one seems to have fallen on (forgive the expression) deaf ears. I'd really appreciate any experiences or opinions any of you may have about these 2 headphone amps. Still giving this some thought. Thanks.
About ready to give up on Roon and my streamer
Thanks everybody for your responses. Some very useful information. To answer a couple of questions posed, the Roon Core is running on my PC (desktop) and I’m using a Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 as the controller. This connects via my AT&T Fiber wi-...
YouTube / YouTube Music Streaming
I too listen to a lot of music through YouTube, and find the quality wildly variable depending on how good the file is in the first place. My setup is very similar to yours except that I access YouTube through the app on my Roku. That connects to ...
Bang for the buck
There are some very good suggestions here, but I'd like to weigh in with my own: Ryan R610. I've owned a pair for several years now and have not really been tempted to upgrade. On the used market they sell for way under $2K (they're about that new...
AES/EBU vs XLR cables for digital connection
And yet one more update: finally was able to get the laptop out of the equation by switching to a Samsung tablet. It was an immensely frustrating process, as Roon can be very tricky to set up properly, and especially difficult to figure out how to...
AES/EBU vs XLR cables for digital connection
Well. After some poking around, and following sesignsfx’s most excellent suggestion, I finally discovered Roon’s DSP engine and the ability to adjust EQ with it. What a difference! Roon defaults to what looks like a flat frequency response, but to...
AES/EBU vs XLR cables for digital connection
Just wanted to update the updates here, as I’ve been living with all this for some weeks now. To remind everybody, I’m using a Sonnet Hermes streamer and a Sonnet Morpheus DAC. The two are connected through i2s via what I think is a good ethernet ...
What's an upgrade from Ryan R610s?
And one other bit of info I found on Ryan's website: they have discontinued their "S" line which were higher-end versions of the 3 models in the original "R" line, which they're still making. I never got to hear one of the "S" models and in genera...
What's an upgrade from Ryan R610s?
OP here, chiming in. I don't think nonoise hijacked my thread at all, in fact he has presented a very tempting speaker, based on the reviews he referenced. I was struck by how similar the Ryan and Revival Audio logos are. Not intentional, I'm sure...
