Thanks all. I might try JPLAY
Sorry - what is "gapless playback"? like when one long Pink Floyd song blends directly into another one, and the player does not stop one song and then start the second song? (creating a gap)
how to use Aurliac Altair G1 - no lightning DS App anymore
Does anyone have any recommendation on how to control an Altair G1 now that the Lightning DS app is gone?
I had issues with the app connecting to my streamer, so I thought I would delete and re-download it. Little did I know that the app is gone from the App Store (IOS)...so not sure what I can do...obviously controlling through the front panel is an option...but certainly not very useful or easy.
Thank you!
Yes, you have described gapless playback correctly. There is an entry on Wikipedia that goes into more detail. It’s hardly the cheapest way to get the Auralic working, but Roon controls play of Auralic devices quite well. It is multiplatform and quite versatile, but the total cost of ownership is significant. It will need a license and a Roon server running on your home network. I used to use BubbleUPnP with my Auralic device. It’s a DLNA/OpenHome control point that runs on Android, and I don’t know if they have a version for iPhone. It’s more finicky than using something like Roon. I think Linn also uses OpenHome, so their control app might work. In general, search for an OpenHome control point to see what’s available for iPhone (or whatever device you are using to control playback). As others have said, the Auralic Web interface will let you configure the Altair, when and if that becomes necessary.

@babyseaotter99 that is what I do too. As I mentioned JPlay works fine except I can't get it to play gapless with my G1 even thought I have it set to gapless for my device within the JPlay setting. You may or may not have the issue or need gapless playback. I think it's worth it to try JPlay. 14 day trial period so nothing to lose. |
