Ortofon MC X30 broken cantilever - what are my options

I purchased this cart about 3 months ago.  After playing a record yesterday, I noticed the Cantilever was slightly askew towards the center of the record.  I decided to brush it lightly with a dry stylus brush to see if something was loose.  The cantilever fell off.  I do not recall any event that could have damaged it but you never know.

I have sent a message to Ortofon - but what are my options?  This is my first time with a broken MC Cart.

MD, Acoustic Sounds, Elusive Disc, The Cable Company, Audio Advisor or any of the other reputable online vendors you may have bought from, will give you up to two thirds of it's original purchase value for a new one. No sweat!

Did I read that the original cartridge cost $70?  I must be mistaken.  I haven’t looked at MC cartridges in a while but never saw anything in that range.

I had a friend with a MC cantilever break on a $2K cartridge and after a long back and forth with the manufacturer and dealer he was SOL.  I have been using MM cartridges ever since, however Vinyl is not my primary listening medium

@mahler123 I believe the $70.00 mentioned was for the inspection of the damaged cart. Enjoy the music

How the Exchange service works

We offer the customer to buy back their cartridge for 25% of the current price list, provided that the customer will buy a new Ortofon cartridge, with either an equivalent or better model. The Exchange Service is available through participating Ortofon Authorised HiFi Dealers pursuant to the purchase of a new cartridge. If you should have the need for this service, please contact your local Ortofon Authorised HiFi Partner.

so ortofon will credit you $195 towards the purchase of new cartridge if your current cartridge is out of warranty. That’s pretty decent.
