Can I Run 2 sets of speakers at once?
I have a set of JBL L100(1975) and a set of Altec Model 14(1981)
I have an Audio Research VT 100 power amp.
Can I run these at the same time? Amp has 4 ohm outputs.
The OP probably wants to run both in two rooms together. Tube amps are usually ok with 4 ohms or less.
In the same room not advisable, the speakers will cause issues with comb filtering.
To be safe you can hook up the speakers in series!
Wiring speakers in series involves connecting the positive terminal of one speaker to the negative terminal of the next, creating a single path for the audio signal while increasing total impedance for safe amplifier operation
.
In a series configuration, all speakers are connected in a chain:
Positive (+) of the amplifier → positive (+) of the first speaker
Negative (−) of the first speaker → positive (+) of the second speaker
Continue this pattern for all additional speakers
Negative (−) of the last speaker → negative (−) of the amplifier
This setup ensures each speaker receives the same current and the total impedance is the sum of individual speaker impedances. For example, two 8-ohm speakers wired in series result in a total impedance of 16 ohms, and three 8-ohm speakers give a total of 24 ohms

Not in the same room!!
