Sonus Faber Maxima Amator without the fancy

I'm a little suprised no-one has brought up the following with regard to your initial post:

You didn't audition the Sonus Faber Maxima Amator speakers at the dealership. You audition a system incorporating the SFMAs. In order to re-create what you heard at the dealer it would be necessary to possess either the same complete system or something similar.

One never listens to loudspeakers in siolation. Only ever to complete systems. Include the room and room positions for the speakers also.

It might be possible to buy drivers and diy approximately the SFMAs. Is your system equivalent to the system you audtioned them on by any chance?

If you are comparing the Rosso Fiorentino to the entry levels of Sonus Faber speakers, that assessment is correct. But if you are comparing a "like to like" quality level, then the Rosso's are a good 30% to 40% less expensive.

Sonus Faber has 6 levels of quality: Lumina, Sonetto, Olympica, Heritage, Homage, and Reference. You'd have to decided for yourself, but to my ears the Rosso Fiorentino's compare very favorably to the Olympica or Heritage level.

I am in no way knocking Sonus Faber, I would love to own a pair of Serafinos. I just think that Rosso Fiorentinos deserve to be in the conversation, as do something like Franco Serblin Accordos.

@vthokie83  I don't have enough info, I just looked at a comparison site, you'd know more. My general understanding is that:

SF marks entry level models up~20+% because they are still a premium brand ad  benefit from their R&D and trickle down. As they sell a lot of these, their mid-range in return are priced reasonable and fare well against the competition. The high-end is expensive but not crazy expensive. It's more collector stuff not audiophile stuff anyway.

I have a good friend helping me with this, he’s getting me used equipment from people he knows for dirt cheap.  
he’s done the same thing I want to do, which is to basically make it sound like the GD is in my living room and he thinks he can get it done for about $1k.  I’ll post what he comes up with in here when we’re finished if anyone is curious.  Very excited!  Helping me set up my room too.
