Can Anyone Identify The Make of this Preamp

Around the late 90’s/ potentially early 00’s, I owned a corker of a preamp that I ended up trading in, fool that I was.

I have been trying to recollect the make/name of this Preamp but unfortunately to many G&T’s have dulled my memory. So I am reaching out to the Audiogon community to assist.

Here goes with the description:

It was a champagne gold metal finish valve preamp, standard size, it had an unusual slightly arched/curved top plate with slotted cut outs.

I can’t remember if it had a Phonostage as at that time I was seeking CD Nirvana.

At the back of my mind Audio was in the name, but maybe not.

Also for some reason, something to do with Mark Levinson, again maybe I am putting 2+2 together and coming up with 5. It was definitely not Red Rose.

I live in the UK which may also assist.

Over to you boys and girls.

I had a car once, it was red and the tyres were Goodyear.  What car did I have 😉

The description you made hardly gives any clues 😉

Could it been a Conrad Johnson, either CT5, ET2, or ART (could be GAT, but that is newer if I remember correctly)

That design started out as "Audio Prism".

The matching "AP" power amp was the "Debut" model, but I forget what they called the preamp.

Never heard the preamp, but the EL34 based power amp and integrated amp were nice.

@iseland sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.

@roxy54 that's definitely it, but I would have sworn it was not a Red Rose at the time, but heyho.

Anyway it was a fantastic preamp.

Sorry,  the wit walked out the door 2 pints ago 🤭

Have a nice weekend 😊

No rocray, but I have a good memory, and as soon as he said curved top and Mark Levinson, I remembered it in my mind, and knew that it was Red Rose. I was aware that there was one like it made by an outside company, but I forgot that it was Audioprism.

@elliottbnewcombjr to be fair it wasn't Red Rose it was Audio Prism at the time, but I thought there was a link to Mark Levinson.

Red Rose also modified and self-branded another large integrated amplifier at some point by another manufacturer that was not Audio Prism. Maybe someone here can recall who that was.

I believe the Red Rose Affirmation integrated was a rebadged/modified amp from a Chinese company called Dusson. Either the v6i or v8i.

Jungson and Levinson come to mind (big snafu about one particular model that was marked up something like 10X), but I am not familiar with Red Rose.

This was a long time ago and I read about it here (I think).

Thanks carpathian but I think that it's chrshanl37 who deserves the credit. It is indeed Dussun who I was thinking of.
