I put my Lore order in 1/28 , Eric told me two weeks . The drop in price to 850.00 dollars was the deal clincher , considering I have not seen one reveiw bad or good on them .

I have about 50 hrs. on my Lores and I am guessing that is still not enough . I am a bit disappointed on the bass , not the lack of it , just sounds a bit muddy to me so far. |
I have the Bubinga veneer . The work on them is near perfect , and everything I thought they be cosmetic wise. It was definitely worth the extra money. |
Genjamon, I am having the same situation with my Lores. I have about 70 hrs. on them , but feel they are a bit bright and lack the lower bass . This week I will add my subwoofer to them , just for kicks . I do not use mp3s so I do not have any advice for that problem. |
I am driving the Lores with a ss 100 watt amp and also tried a 35 watt intergrated tube amp .With both I find them lacking in bass , not saying there is none , just a bit weak . I use them only for music , no ht. They are definitly lacking for a claim of going into the lower 30's . |
I have a Counterpoint with a Hafler preamp . I have to admit I think the pre amp is on the bright side. I just want to clarify ,, I do not think these are bad speakers , they are 850 dollar speaker , I have the bubinga finish wich really makes them so much more expensive. Eric did a great job with them . My issue is ,and I even used a 35 watt tube amp , that in my taste the bass is ,,soso, not that there is not any , just not what I thought is advertised or claimed by Eric . If I really thought they were bad , they would have been sent back by now . I have about 100 hrs of time on them so I am still hoping they improve . Any suggestions for a "less brighter" preamp,amp would be appreciated . Thanks. |

OK Gpowered I guees I should have added a :) after my attempt at a joke . Let me state now THAT GPOWERED AND ERIC ARE NOT THE SAME PERSON . My apologies to Eric if I caused any harm to his reputation.
Getting back to Gpowered . I post on here to get info , not to be lectured at. I am sorry if I did not drink the same koolaid as you , I just find , the LORES a bit brighter then I thought they be . Not that they are not a good speaker , they are , just , like any other speaker ,,, not perfect .The brightnes may well be my electronics , but how can you state that , when by your own admission you are not familiar with my amps/preamps???So spare me the the lack of experince comment . I did talk to Eric before I bought the speakers , told him what I have and he said they would be no problem.I am not griping about the speakers , as you have commented. Just stating MY opinion ,as you have stated yours. I will say this for the last time , so Gpowered listen,,, I like the LORES , like there finish , are they perfect ,,no but NO speaker is . I listen to the speaker ,, not to there finish Gpowered so that does not affect my expectations of the speaker, as you have previously noted.

well some of us just simply buy Erics new speaker when he introduces a new one . I really don't think you know what I mean when I state I am not happy with the low end but that is ok . Good luck with the new speakers and chasing nirvana! |
Again Gpowered ,some of us have a limited budget and just can not buy things on a whim . That is the only fact that I need to know . Sorry I don't drink the same Koolaid you do.As far as being happy , the Lores were a step backwards in that quest. |
I replaced NHT SUPER ZEROES paired with there sub.
Bass has improved a bit since I had them . Before I get the response that you can't compare a sub to the Lores , I realize that . I did not expect to , but in MY hearing , taste , the Lores do not live up to the claim of 30 hz. Nor do they live up to the NHT's any other way also , truely amazing speaker . |
OK for the LAST time please read all my postings before anyone says again I am unhappy with the Lores . I just accept them for what they are ,a thousand dollar speaker , not miracles wonders, with a added comment that they do not have the weight (thanks genjamon) that I was expected , told, they would have . Otherwise I do like them .They ,for the most part though , have been a lateral move for me. I am not trying to run anyone down the road .
Gpowered , I am not a HT guy ,far from it actually. Gpowered please look into the Stereophiles archive reccomended issues for NHT SUPER ZEROES with the sub . They are compared to , speakers ten times their cost ,, for what that is worth . They are not just for HT . I know if I check your earlier post you compare the Lores to speakers costing thousands more .I beleive you actually called them the best AND,last speaker you would own .
I would love to be able to have multiple amps , preamps to compare with the Lores , but as everyone knows here this not a inexpensive hobby . I have I beleive in my original post , ask for suggestions on what electronics, cables to use. I am still open for suggestions. |

Sebroff I apreciate the help , the 35 amp was actually a intergrated amp. I am use to the sub woofer.I had volume at 8-9 depending on the music. |
well sebrof the tube amp did cahnge the sound , but it just wasnt for me , so the search continues!! |

the proper question, utahusker would be,,, what did you do with the "best speaker ever , end all , im off the merry-go-round ,no need to go any farther in the quest for the perfect speaker , i found the perfect speaker and , can you beleive?? for under 1 grand , that sounds better then 5 -10 times it cost speaker "??!! like i posted many times before ,, i like my lores i bought the bubinga finish ,, very sharp looking , but ..but the measurements that are posted on the website do not add up , im talking about the low end , they are fine speakers , it is just some went off on how they are worth 10x the price , i did not get that statement then and still dont . saying all that i am keeping my lores , im not selling them off for the next great thing to come along .i just laugh when you here someone make these unbeleiveable claims about any product . thats what i was talking about when i mentioned ,,the hype about these speakers. |
Thanks for the comments Rsfphil . Remeber I had the NHT SUPER ZEROES with the NHT subwoofer . So it took some time for my ears to adjust . I still miss the bass from the sub , because in my opinion it was also tighter , but the Lores are a keeper for me. |

SIX, 6 weeks!! not even time for them to be fully broken in . I stand by all of my comments on this thread , PLEASE go back and read them . Then read Gpowereds . Zman , you say "so give him a break, his zest for something good and zeal to share with others is a bennifit to all." Really , he does?? How does it benefit me that he proclaimed the Lores the greatest speaker , then sells them , buys the Pendragon , proclaims even better the the Lores then in six weeks sells them?? Mikirob I have no ax to grind . What am I way off base on? With respect to your pro bass credentials I still find it hard to beleive that someone can say they go down to 30 hz . If you like the speakers then great I am happy for you , but do not attack my opinions on the speaker . Which for all but the bass ,are positive . |
