Worlds best DAC
the problem with the question " what is the best (fill in the component) is that the "best" has to be superior in all respects to everything else. is there any component in audio that is the best of its class, even if cost is no object ?for exampl...
Marantz SA-14S1 or Vinvent CD-S7-DAC
the issue of tube complement may be moot, when you tube roll.if you can find some nice sounding 6 and 12 volt tubes, the differences in sonics between the cd-s7 and the cd-s7 dac may be small.
Burn-in and Equipmemt Value
there are three ways to "break-n" a component. One way is a cd, like the PAD burn-in disc, which emits random frequencies in a background of white noise.Another is a burn in devise, like the audio harma, or the hegeman.the last approach is to play...
Marantz SA-14S1 or Vinvent CD-S7-DAC
the vincent uses 1 12ax7 and 2 6922. perhaps one tube is for gain, the others, a buffer stage. the owner's manual does not specify.
Marantz SA-14S1 or Vinvent CD-S7-DAC
I connected the Vincent, which now has about 500 hours directly to my vtl amps. it did not take very long for me to conclude, that my preamp added warmth and more extension in the bass.

Marantz SA-14S1 or Vinvent CD-S7-DAC
I have eliminated the Marantz. I have 100 hours left to break in the Vincent. so far it does not sound very tube like, with 400 hours. the teac is neutral and useful for reviewing.I also have a ps audio perfect wave dac that is being repaired. whe...
Pulling the trigger on pricey equipment
I would not buy anything expensive without viewing it and listening to it.
The best CD Player for the money
if the quote was found in the Redbook section , than my statement applied to a collection of digital hardware that I had auditioned prior to the review. it was not meant specifically as a comparison between specific cd players, but rather a collec...
The best CD Player for the money
hi ghosthouse:I could not find the quote you cited. I would say however, that I was not making a comparative statement between the teac and the Marantz and Vincent.if you could cite the part of the review you cited, it would be easier to give a de...
Marantz SA-14S1 or Vinvent CD-S7-DAC
the player retails for $2000.
The best CD Player for the money
at this juncture, I will not purchase the marantz, and because of the Vincent's limitations--no SACD or acceptance of high resolution files, and the fact that I own three other tubed players, I will not purchase the Vincent.my issue with the TEAC ...
Marantz SA-14S1 or Vinvent CD-S7-DAC
regarding the teac, i find it uncolored. i listened to holly coles' recording of DON'T SMOKE IN BED, track 1 and heard a lot of sibilance. then I listened to a reference recording, of Liszt's Mephisto Waltz--a Reference Recording Release, and i he...
Are you an Audiophile?
does it matter ? its only a word.are we defined by words or actions?if our behavior defines us, then adjectives are unnecessary.
Marantz SA-14S1 or Vinvent CD-S7-DAC
hi audiolabyrinth:for the second time, I did not say the Marantz sounded better than the Vincent.I said the Vincent had a touch of tube warmth. read my review on audiophilia.com.I own a Vincent cd s6. I have tube rolled. I know how good the Vincen...
