Opinions on Wyred 4 Sound ICE amps
Inpieces,You wrote: For STI i would change monoblock fuses for warmer, also PC towards more full weighty sound. What does the "pc" mean? I did not know how to interpret this abbreviation. Thanks

Inpieces, you are right to quote the smart reviewer who wrote, don't listen to things that you understand you'd love if you can never afford them.Another important point is the ability to "AB" products to make sure that you are hearing the differe...
Opinions on Wyred 4 Sound ICE amps
Interesting comments about Krell integrateds versus separates. The dealer who sold me the Krell S300i said that I was about 95% of the way there and would have to spend a ton of money to improve the sound from an amp perspective. This dealer sells...
Class D amps, bang for your buck ones
I just purchased a Wyred4Sound SX1000 and preamp - maybe have ten hours on them. They are much superior to my old Krell S300i with 300 hours on it. The W4S do not sound materially different overall, but there is certainly much more detail, much mo...
Opinions on Wyred 4 Sound ICE amps
I listened to four or five albums across the weekend and I think that understand at least part of what Mapman is saying. For me, simply put, there is a lot more to hear. The feeling of being "there" is really improved. The sound is more palpable a...
Opinions on Wyred 4 Sound ICE amps
I made the plunge and purchased the Wyred4Sound preamp and SX1000 from Underwood HiFi. They arrived last week well packaged in double boxes with no UPS shipping damage.Everything worked and the only hot flash of "what is wrong?" occurred when I st...
What is Musicality?
Put your favorite record on the player. Set the volume.Sit in your favorite chairClose your eyes Does it honestly sound live - that is musicality for better or worse.
Compairson ground rules....should we have them?
The real key to me is actually listening to gear. However, while I consider myself an audiophile in that I can describe differences in sound when I hear them; I am relatively unknowledgeable because I have heard maybe 20 different speakers and not...
Preramp for Adcom GFA 565's
Hi Noble100,My two boxes of Wyred4Sound arrived two days ago and last night I finally got to open both boxes and set up the Wyred4Sound components. Well packaged in double boxes with no UPS shipping damage.Everything works and the only hot flash o...
Magnepan 1.7 too bright, HELP
For what it is worth, I tried the Grant Fidelity tube buffer between a Azur 640 CD player and a McIntosh MA6300 integrated amp driving a double stack of Large Advents. Could not tell a difference.
Preramp for Adcom GFA 565's
Hi Noble100,Supposed to deliver today so I will keep you posted. I heard a big difference when I went to the Krell from a Mac amp. Much more dynamic and cleaner sounding for the Maggie 1.7's to my ear. I suppose that a lot of what I heard was the ...
Magnepan 1.7 too bright, HELP
My Maggie 1.7's are in a room with 9 foot ceilings, 35 feet long and 15 wide. Fully carpeted with couch, loveseat, and chair. Palm trees behind the speakers. The room is on a lower level with stairs near the listening end and an el around the back...
Preramp for Adcom GFA 565's
Noble100,Well, I did it. Ordered Wyred4Sound SX1000 and STP SE preamp. Should arrive this week. Hope I did not make a mistake!Dsper
Preramp for Adcom GFA 565's
Hi Noble100, Thank you for your comments. Being able to hear it before you buy seems to be the rub. I am also considering the Wyred4Sound mono blocks and I see that on Audiogon there is a pair of Cary 500 MB monoblocks that are supposed to be pret...
Preramp for Adcom GFA 565's
Noble100,I want to power Maggie 1.7's. Some of what led me to the Adcom's was that they are supposed to be good in the bass and I thought that might help the Maggies. I also feel that the Krell is a little bit...uninvolving. Want a weightier "rich...
