Accuphase amplifier choice

Hello All,

I have decided to upgrade my Parasound A21 amplifier looking for a more refined sound. The following are the amplifiers that I have in my mind:

Accuphase A-48s
Accuphase P-4600
Coda No. 8 (meterless)
Coda 16.0 (meterless)

Currently I am leaning largely to Accuphase. My dealer says that the Class A 48s will sound better with my ProAc D48R. But I am worried that I will lose dynamics since the Accuphase is only 50W into 8 Ohms. But it doubles all the way into 1 ohm.

The P-4600 is a higher wattage amp and I think it should be able to drive the D48R with ease because it doubles down to 2 ohm load. So I am not concerned with it's ability to drive the ProAcs.

I do have some feedback on the P-4600 from another thread here and appreciate it. But now looking for some comparisons.

Has anyone compared/experienced the Accuphase Vs Coda amplifiers? Any feedback is appreciated.

The local audiophile group was at my place tonight. Two of the gentlemen knew my system from last meeting. The only change was the amplifier and the Intona USB purifier. Smitten is the word that comes to mind. They loved the experience and couldn’t believe how the upgrade from the previously 5X powerful amp to the current puny Accuphase had completely transformed the listening experience.

Someone had mentioned that Class A watts are far more powerful. While that does not make sense by itself, you have to experience it personally to know what it means. I am extremely pleased with this amp and thankful to the members who helped me make this decision.

@milpai, I'm not surprised by your conclusion.  I've owned a couple of Class A amps in the past but not where I could make an appropriate comparison.  Without going back through the whole thread I think you had experience with something from Parasound.  A few years ago I had quite demanding speakers driven by a pair of JC-1s.  Those had switchable bias and even the modest 25 W hi-bias option had noticeably better sonics.

Now with a completely different system (including less demanding speakers) I have a modest (for them) Accuphase E-280 which I find absolutely musically satisfying.
