Is anyone still using a CD Player

I have a bunch of CDs and the Krell 505 player.  I find myself defaulting to my Aurender Streamer and never listening to CDs.   I’m considering getting a CD Ripper and loading them via HSD or SSD card and loading into the Aurender.  Thoughts?  Am I in the dark ages even keeping the CD Player?

I think the question you should really be asking is why are so many HiFi companies now producing new CD and SACD players and transports? Because new CD sales are holding up well as younger people want to support bands by buying physical media that rewards them for their efforts. That owning rather than renting is appealing. That there are lots of old CDs from great artists in excellent condition available from as little as a$1 at thrift stores. I guess you could say there is some sort of revival. So, YES I have a CD/SACD player, and I use it every day to enjoy my collection of CDs. Do I have a streamer, yes but only to listen to music before purchasing or that is not available on CD/SACD. Somehow I don't equate album listening as I do on CD and Vinyl to streaming and worrying about searching immediately for my next track.

.

"The streaming I enjoy is limited to FloMax."  Oh Dekay, you did it again.  My wife & I have tears of laughter.

I loaded all my CD's on a SSD.  Much easier than messing with the physical disks & holders.  JRiver does a great job with the playback.

Absolutely. I listen to cd’s daily. In fact I still buy new cd’s when I find a great deal or something of special interest. AND, I just bought a new player a few months ago after my old one died after 17 years of constant use. Yes, I also have a very good streaming dac too. I also use it daily. Which one I use depends on a variety of things. But I can’t see myself ever not playing cd’s.

I must admit I'm a cross dresser. I use it all ,6 streamers,20 plus spinners ,6 turntables I've collected over the years .there all fun and changing it up is too.enjoy the science and the music. So is finding records and cd at the thrift store. Its an adventure.😃

Do whatever turns you on!!!!  That's what this wonderful passionate hobby is all about anyway.  Isn't it?   I sold my turn table for CD over 30 years ago.   I sold my CD player about 5 years ago and began streaming exclusively (also ripped CDs) and I've never been happier.  Happy listening.
