Is anyone still using a CD Player

I have a bunch of CDs and the Krell 505 player.  I find myself defaulting to my Aurender Streamer and never listening to CDs.   I’m considering getting a CD Ripper and loading them via HSD or SSD card and loading into the Aurender.  Thoughts?  Am I in the dark ages even keeping the CD Player?

Not only do I still use a CD player but I use two of them. My Marantz CD60 is only a couple months old. My Rotel CD11 Tribute player is a year or so old. I'm still buying CD's on a regular basis too.

CD's, DVD's, LP's and cassette tapes only as far as music goes...

The streaming I enjoy is limited to FloMax.

I also have R2R tapes and 78 RPM records that I cannot play on my current setup.

I do not trust a non physical music or otherwise library due to all the digital  failures that I have experienced since 1997, or so, and they just keep coming on strong.

This said, if I did not already own a physical media library containing almost everything of interest to my wife and myself streaming would definitely spark my interest as it would be considerably less expensive, and require considerably less effort than obtaining hard media of older selections of interest.

Instant gratification (for me) is currently directed towards Internet searches and Cable TV watching.

I prefer to listen to music in the same manner that I cook, bathe and otherwise live life - with a more hands on approach - doing so as long as I can (I also dislike change as I'm a Capricorn dambit)

I think the question you should really be asking is why are so many HiFi companies now producing new CD and SACD players and transports? Because new CD sales are holding up well as younger people want to support bands by buying physical media that rewards them for their efforts. That owning rather than renting is appealing. That there are lots of old CDs from great artists in excellent condition available from as little as a$1 at thrift stores. I guess you could say there is some sort of revival. So, YES I have a CD/SACD player, and I use it every day to enjoy my collection of CDs. Do I have a streamer, yes but only to listen to music before purchasing or that is not available on CD/SACD. Somehow I don't equate album listening as I do on CD and Vinyl to streaming and worrying about searching immediately for my next track.

"The streaming I enjoy is limited to FloMax."  Oh Dekay, you did it again.  My wife & I have tears of laughter.

I loaded all my CD's on a SSD.  Much easier than messing with the physical disks & holders.  JRiver does a great job with the playback.

Absolutely. I listen to cd’s daily. In fact I still buy new cd’s when I find a great deal or something of special interest. AND, I just bought a new player a few months ago after my old one died after 17 years of constant use. Yes, I also have a very good streaming dac too. I also use it daily. Which one I use depends on a variety of things. But I can’t see myself ever not playing cd’s.
