$35000 to $40,000. speakers what would you buy and why?

I am contemplating purchasing my End game speakers.     The ones that catch my eye are the Magico M3, Magico M project,  Stenheim Alumine 5se, Rockport Cygnus and the Songs Faber Amati Homage G5.   My system consists of  An Aurender N20 feeding a MSB Technology Premier Dac with Premier powerbaye.  Preamp duties are handles by An Audio Research Reference Anniversary and amplification is a pair of Lamm M 2.2 mono blocks. I currently have Magnepan 3.7i's.   I love their transparency and inner detail but they do not play in the low registers.   I do not want separate subs....  My room is mediums sized.  I listen to mostly soft pop, classical and some light rock.   I am trying to walk the thin line of tranparency vs musicality.    I would enjoy some suggestions and some sound reasoning behind members choices in speakers.  I do not want this to morph into a bashing thread.  Please stay on topic.

Reasonable to expect larger speakers of the highest quality for that price.

Auditioned KEF Blade metas in that price range yesterday.  Only speakers I might consider dropping that much money on.  I am practically adverse to large heavy speakers in general these days, but I could probably handle those.  Stunning looks and proven reference standard sonic performance!  I was not disappointed.

I really enjoyed reading this thread and everyone’s suggestions.

I actually just made a video about getting delivery of some new electroststatic speakers that the OP should consider, since he has and likes Magnapans.

https://youtu.be/hRQymIxonAk?si=SGeMQyepx4EZCA5e

My current speakers (now sold) are TAD CR1’s, a speaker I swore I would never get rid of, and if I had the space, would still keep because they are my favorite box speaker of a reasonable size and price.  While I do like coincident speakers, and was excited when the original Blade (then Blade 2) was released, I found they couldn’t hold a candle to the TAD’s vapor deposited beryllium drivers.

But I always lusted after Soundlabs, it’s just the size was a turn off since being in NYC I don’t have a dedicated room.

when I heard the Popori electrostats (now rebranded as Prodigio) described as a modern day Soundlab, my ears perked up.  I even talked with dealers who had both Soundlab and Prodigio and preferred the latter for the Sonics, smaller size and much better aesthetics.  I do love that the Soundlabs now need no ac power and pull it from signal - very cool innovation.

Anyway I decided to try the entry level Prodigio, and having no crossover, I started hearing things I never did in the TAD, and that is saying quite a lot.

I’ve since moved to the larger version of the speaker since my room is rather large.  Also at one of the audio shows I heard these panels in a small room and the bass was phenomenal.  In contrast, traditional speakers sounded lumpy in the these less than ideal rooms.

im really enjoying what I’m hearing so far, and will soon get Ultra

‘stat tweeter section which is supposed to make the speaker even better, replacing the ribbon tweeter.

For the OP’s kind of music, I think it will be hard to find a better speaker, and the WR2 model is in his price range.

I can’t relate how incredible it is getting rid of the crossover.

the alsyvox is a speaker that I really love when I heard it, but even that requires the very expensive outboard crossover to reach its potential.

I did audition another panel speaker in about the $15-20K range, the Dyptique, which I was hoping would be a sort of poor mans Alsyvox, but both my friend and I walked away disappointed.

I realize dipole panels are not for everyone, but I find these Prodigio to completely transform my listening experience.  It’s as if each instrument has much wider bandwidth, and is not bright or harsh, while still providing a level of transparency I don’t think I’ve ever heard.  I saw a video about one guy with the large sonus Faber who sold his for these panels.

Also I know of two audio show owners (one is an employee) and these guys have access to discounts on anything they want, and have heard everything, and both  chose Prodigio, which I think is saying something.

as I mentioned in the video, I still have a lot of positioning to do, playing with toe in and the unique foam damper panels that allow one to fine tune the bass for their room and distance to the wall.

Excellent suggestions as above. If you have a chance to purchase Thiel Audio CS 2.7 loudspeakers, do not hesitate. Otherwise, another +vote for Vandersteen Kento.

Happy Listening!

Get a Klipsch Jubilee if you have the space.  This list of speakers will sound like a letdown next to it.

The best sounding speakers on earth will not be small.

The last decade my listening room has had the persona 7f, kanta 3, dsp 8000se, salon 2, salon1, usher be20dmd, KEF blade, Yamaha ns5k, KEF r105/3 & r107/2…VA Strauss & Beethoven and I’m sure there’s more. Sometimes different is better sometimes it’s just different.
