Gone but not forgotten

What HiFi makers that are now out of business do you miss? Personally, I can think of 2 brands that made great gear and are gone and that I miss - Nakamichi is one- and that was inevitable as the cassette world virtually disappeared. The other was California Audio Labs- I thought they made genuinely good digital gear.

I had an Amber power amp rated at 70 watts / side & it sounded noticeably better than the Hafler DH 200 power amp I built which was pretty good on my Snell AII’s. I miss all of them!

Interesting thread...

I've owned Nakamichi, Braun, ADS, Dynaco, Phase Linear, Hafler and Advent.

I still own California Audio Labs  (Icon MkII - great analog sounding  deck) and the not mentioned, so far, Pilot gear (232 & 240).

Dynaco tube gear was by far my most favorite with Pilot being a close, close, close second.

@judsauce - Looks like Dunlavy making a comeback. Showing two models on their website.

I know Dynaudio is obviously still alive and quite well, but I miss their Audience line of speakers. Man the first time I sat down for that first intimate session with my Audience 82’s once I got them home and broken in, I was truly awestruck. Greatest feeling I’ve had to date in all my audio experiences and journeys…Never forget it😌…
