HiBy FC1 vs. just about any modern or vintage DAC out there.

Cost? Just around 20 dollars or so.

I doubt anyone will be able to tell a difference with their system.

Let’s assume  the following case scenario:

1. same speakers

2. same cables

3. same amplifier

The test:

Use a 3.5mm cable to RCA or balanced in to your preamplifier or integrated amplifier on a spare input.

basically, it’s 2v plus a little extra mw, designed to drive headphones.

If anything it’ll be a bit louder than your system, but fundamentally, you won’t be able to hear any difference between it and any solid-state DAC out there in terms of resolution, detail, timing, or instruments/vocals clarity.

Why? Because digital audio has advanced to the point where we are at its limits, and can shrink down the electronics this small, without sacrificing anything. Just look at how far computers and smartphones have come. Audio reproduction is no different in the digital domain.

@tomic601 ...HO, not kenjits' style of posting.  He'd PM on occasion, and I'd attempt to be sympathetic to his messianic ranting; at least he'd calm down a tad. *G*  'Ell, the gathered here have for the most part have dealt with my 'off-topic' 'tude to varied degrees, which I've appreciated....

Spouse and self are approaching 50 years of 'togetherness mess', not totally hell nor heavenly blissed fog.  We're just happy to have found each other, stayed childless, and not screwed up anyones' elses' life.

She turns 70 the 11th; I hit 3/4s' of a century the 29th.

My 'birthday gift' 7/6 is a right hip total replacement, both appreciated and concerned over the pain, the bed immobility, and the physical therapy follow-on.

We're moving lock, stock, and audio to a new domicile while trying to sell our business where we've had an vaguely upstyled 'bikers' pad' within without the motorcycles. (We used to ride....too fragile of late, but still missing the thrill of it all....*sigh*).

I helped her through therapy for depression and tending bi-polar; she now supports me thru depression and a body that certainly ain't what it used to be if ever.

There was a concern and debate 'twixt my ortho surgeon, my 2 cardios', and my GP whether or not I'd wake from anesthesia

I 'got lost' for a moment when I received my TAVR surgery for a 2-flap aortic one.

I don't dream during anesthesia, wondering if I'll 'wake Elsewhere'.
Imagine my surprise....

Move over, Mona.  I can 'smile' like you have for all these years...

Musical Interlude Moment

...been in this and these places 'n spaces for awhile of late...

...and like the 'name' of the artist. *chuckle*  Seems a play or a pun, either fun. ;)

We are what we is and were...still moving thru the now....

Audio experiences are not what they used to be, I've got friends in Vienna at the moment offering almost a time-lapsed commentary on their endeavours with photo records to show the equipment and room set-up.

99% of people conversed with outside of the die-hard enthusiasts know anything about audio as I know it, and as does a dying breed.

Audio today is portable, and TOTR listening is delivered through earbuds.

The Thread is very relevant, but not to those approaching extinction for being the main populous in the world of audio and recorded music replays.

Any coverage of items that belong to very, very portable audio devices has a place on a forum; it will be good to attract new faces and content.

thankfully my tube DAC appears to be exempt from this….

why? It doesn’t have a 3.5mm out to do a proper comparison with the $20 dongle?
