How about trying some more challenging classical music? Mahler for example.
It is OK to fall asleep when listening at our age, except when we are in a concert hall ![]()
Why for the life of me I can’t stay awake when listening to Music?
I really don’t understand how someone can stay all night long listening to music? I read reviewers saying I started listening for hours till 2-3 in the morning. Well, I am 62 yo and as soon as I play music man I feel sleepy. I don’t think that is listening fatigue, it must be the opposite of it. I become so relaxed and my eyes start shutting down lol. Is that normal? Is it my equipments that makes me feel so relaxed or is it my advanced age? Can I do anything different to my system?
I am not sure if this topic came up before and may sound silly but I thought I ask in case someone else on this forum has the same issue.
My system:
McIntosh c2700
Mcintosh Mc 452
Revivalvaudio Atlante 5
Garlubidor divinity dac
Eversolo T8
cables Audience throughout.
Thanks for sharing your experience and input in advance!
My Dad could nod off in a heartbeat. I have the same condition. I have the habit of taking a nap around 4:00PM. This helps extend my evening hours for listening etc. It could be a form of narcolepsy. If I start reading a book chances are I'll nod off in minutes. It's controlled my whole life. I've tried everything to overcome it. Activities like pickleball or racquetball are best for me. Three hour college lectures were the worst! I asked my Dad how he got through college because of it. He went to college in 1952. Back then he said they could smoke in class. I 'll pass on that one! Anyone else like this? Joe |
@jnovak That is very similar to what I do. I make sure to walk between 4-5 miles a day. Recently, I started taking a quick 30 min nap and that helps me to stay up to 10:30-11pm but once I start listening to music around 10:00pm, I feel that accelerate my sleepiness time. |
