That makes sense if your dealer understands your system and preferences. Good luck with your cable upgrade!
Power Cord for Accuphase Amplifier
I have a new Accuphase P-4600 amplifier and am looking for a power cord to replace the stock. So far I’ve tried the Cullen Crossfire and the IceAge OFC Frankencable. While both cables have worked well on my source components they have not performed better than the stock on the amplifier. So to those who have Accuphase amplifiers what power cable has worked for you?
As I mentioned in other threads Accuphase strongly recommends that you use only the stock cord and so far that has been the best. The. other two have resulted in a darker sound with less soundscape openness.
I’ve been trying to stay under $500 for the cord but would be willing to go a little higher if it improves the amps performance.

I tried Purist Audio Design Diamond Revision Neptune that TMR had about a year and a half ago. It was a used cable. A jaw dropping experience! |
You had already posted your similar opinion on the PAD thread. Wonder why you had to post the same again, since I had linked the thread in my response above. Strange that you did not let the cable burn-in properly and immediately decided to pull it out. Yeah, it might be used. But maybe the previous owner did the same thing as you did and sold it and it was on shelf for quite some time. For me "burn-in" is a real thing. In any case; I read your response, did not care for it and trusted my dealer. I value his advise more than your opinions. He deals in very high end systems and has far more experience. And he was on dot with how PAD gels with my amplifier and the rest of the system. In fact I have decided to get more PAD power cables.

@milpai it was a used cable and I gave it time to settle. |
Based on the immediate response and the number of responses you provide per day/week, I guess that you are a retired person and have enough time on hand. So I went back on your older responses and see that you have mentioned the same thing for Audioquest Hurricane power cord. That is when it struck me that it must be your age and your ears. With age people tend to lose the ability to hear the higher up frequencies. Your system must sound balanced for you, since you have hard time hearing those trebles. You keep recommending a certain brand of cable that is known for "highly resolving details", while PAD is known for it's lush details and Audioquest more for it's dynamic presentation. At the same time, this thread is about a power cord for Accuphase. I don't understand how you can provide that specific recommendation, since you don't own an Accuphase. Don't you own a Boulder integrated with Wilson speakers? If you want to bash PAD, then we have a separate thread and you can post your opinions there. |
