What became of the guy making OB speakers about 2 years ago?

I mean, they still make them, so not sure which guy you mean.  It’s both a commercial trend and a common subject of discussion at DIYaudio. 

The late/great Linkwitz kits are also still available. 

Yep, Linkwitz is the first one I recall, a real og. Unfortunately he passed away a few years ago. Also Emerald Physics was the big thing for a hot minute some years ago (well before the Shaw Caladans). Still a number of those floating around. Not sure about its company status, but should be an easy search. 

I'll admit openly to being baffled as to who the OP is referring to.

All you have to do is listen to them.  I own Cornwalls, Heresys and KEF LS50 Metas as well as Caintuck audio open baffles with Lii Song Fast 8’s.  The sound is incredible for Jazz and Vocals - otherworldly actually.  I guess that makes me eccentric.

IIRC correctly Spatial Audio (Claytons former company) evolved from Emerald Physics.
