amp I bought 3 days ago not powering on - electrical engineer advice wanted

I bought a used Musical Fidelity A380 in good condition. Played it every day, worked fine.

Today it did not turn on. There were no sign of failure yesterday. Could it be a fuse or power supply?

I’m a lot more confident at identifying visibly damaged parts on PC boards after watching a few “Parts-People Dell Laptops Experts” episodes on YouTube. The videos show what a tech looks at under magnification. Might be helpful if you want to do future inspections.

@parkergetdean hope things work out well for you, sooner than later.

@kennyc unlike laptops and cell phones that use SMD components, most high-end audio gear uses discrete through-hole components. Which is good, because SMD is a bear to fix.

Edit: except streamers, because streamers are PCs; albeit low-powered ones.

@audphile1 great news on the CD player!

@thecarpathian WHY WOULD YOU THINK I DID NOT ASK FOR THE TRACKING NUMBER?WHY?

I did. He said: "yeah, I see it, it's a long one brother!" I tried to ask what it is, but he seemed to be inclined to hang up on me. I think I will order one and bring it to him.

As for him being imaginary, paid actor, prank, etc.  those are valid points. Again, with Robin Gibb's words: the joke is on me. You guys have fun and working gear (boring!), I have my story.

It stopped reliably turning on. When it would turn on, it would work as intended.

@parkergetdean

Sounds like a bad power switch.
