I’m interested in getting a new Denafrips DAC

Hey all,

There was a gentleman in Maine who was selling Denafrips gear and for months he was advertising everywhere.  Now that I’m ready to buy a DAC or DDC or both, he’s nowhere to be found.  Anyone know what happened to him or his business?

Thanks.

@curiousjim the writing on the wall is right there. Customer service horror stories can be read online. One repair center in TX that may potentially drop out of engagement with denafrips leaving no alternative options.

I’m just puzzled why, with abundance of comparably priced DACs from established manufacturers and scarcity of support from Denafrips, would someone continue to pursue this brand.

Terninator is close to $9000 and venus is $4000. You have Bricasti, Berkeley, Meitner, Weiss, Chord, etc. in the same price range with better support snd arguably better or at least comparable sound quality. Some of these options include a built in streaming card that may eliminate the need for a separate streamer, giving you more funds to focus on the DAC.

Unless I’m missing something, these other options are way more appealing.

I have no affiliation with this seller but this is a great dac

What part would that have been? A footer? A connector? The bulk of the components that go into a Gaia are proprietary.

Seriously, outside the chassis, furutech connectors, and the stock footers, I would be shocked to find out that the Texas guy has a parts connection from China that shoots him what he needs when the fix requires a soldering iron. Blasphemy!

Providing hearsay is akin to presenting a house of cards as a solid foundation.

i was trying to be nice... todd replaced the motherboard in the gaia, yep they shipped him one from the factory in china

it is my unit, i am listening to it presently

sorry to burst your bubble

@audphile1

my issue with so many “DAC’s” out there is that they are also streamers, headphone amps and preamps.  I am looking for just a DAC and to narrow it down even more, I like the sound of ladder DAC’s. So that’s why I mentioned Denifrips.  I think I’d be super happy with a Venus 15th.

@goodlistening64 rather than questioning others why don’t you divulge the source of your comments.  I’m, as I’m sure others are, very interested in the intent of your post.
