i rarely weigh in on threads like this as it’s not very often I or any of us have direct experience with the 4 variables involved: 2 setups and 2 cartridge…

I know if I had to weigh inputs I like what Matt had to say

of course the real wild card is personal preference… in the end, both are excellent carts from reliable companies… 

I run a DV20xl on my ultradeck and  whest2.0 at 65ohm. It delivers a realistic soundstage with detail and plump mids. It delivers a really fine listening experience.

Just a vague memory, but

I think I sent an eBay link of a used Dynavector to Steve at VAS, pre-purchase, to get his advice.

Whatever it was (might not be a Dynavector) he advised that they are not easy rebuilds, usually he had to open them up, clean inside it's guts, mess with the coils, then the cantilever and stylus. He said don't risk it.

So, thinking long range, future rebuild, you might write Steve and ask his advice.

Others: have any experience rebuilding either type?

It’s low output (.12mv) but you should be covered between gain setting of phonostage+LS.

Superior to both. Has specs of pricey exotic carts- air core inductor, better cant/stylus and LESS in cost. Its 1 gen ART series. 2nd gen price bump is significant.

The only real practical difference is body isn't threaded for mounting screws.

ART series carts have legit performance credentials here and elsewhere.

Longtime ART9 user. Works well on VPI arms.
