You probably have tried alternate 6sn7’s, I just want to say, my friend and I were quite surprised at how much difference we heard when changing the Rectifier tube in his Hagerman Cornet 2. He bought it used, and the seller sent alternate tubes with it. " the two rectifiers in the Hagerman Cornet 2 that we played with were Sylvania 5Y3G B8M and an RCA 5U4GB. We preferred the RCA" https://www.hagtech.com/pdf/cornet2.pdf ................................... I mistakenly reversed one set of my Cayin 6sl7 and 6sn7’s, which look identical, blew one 6sl7. I tried a pair Sylvanias that looked physically different, chrome top, hated their sound, returned them, tried and kept GE 6sl7GT. These look identical to the 6sn7’s I like in my Cayin A88T Does anyone have a way to know who made these for Cayin?

I’d look at a Backert Rhumba or used LTA MicroZOTL, or there’s this used MZ3 that’s very close to the MicroZOTL and will save you some $$$. These do exactly what you’re looking for sonically. Best of luck. https://tmraudio.com/fresh-arrivals/linear-tube-audio-microzotl-mz3-tube-headphone-amplifier-lps/ |
@rockadanny the devil is always in the details when assessing any piece of gear. AI used correctly is perhaps the best way to get answers based on the details, or at least whatever details have been made known to the particular AI engine. Web Search engine in Poe app specifically has helped me make some very good decisions relating to my hifi. I would expect similar from Chat GPT. So in what direction did ChatGPT lead you? Inquiring minds want to know! Also then interesting to see what the various SMEs on the topic that happen to hang around here have to say. The more facts and experience in a particular case the better! |
