A friend of mine recently had his hearing greatly compromised. The solution was a very close collaboration between he and his audiologist for fit and for the sonic settings. If you are having trouble making out and picking out speech from the background it is likely the solution will not be neutral as you might like for music but one contoured for speech recognition. I would recommend finding a good and sympathetic audiologist to work closely with to get the right product and fit. This isn't a commodity where you want to save money... you want a very customized personalized solution.

this is the software that you use on your smartphone for my Audicus Omni Series 2; Philips has their own similar software, all modern ones do, it becomes easy after a bit of practice They have one setup called ’Live Music’ which I use when listening to music in an audience or listening to my system. I used this while considering Philips from Costco https://www.hearingsolutions.philips.com/en-us/products/HearLink-2-app My Audicus/Android phone use both the mic and the speaker of my hearing aids for phone calls, so I can leave the phone on my desk and walk to another room, and the person can hear me, with some, you might hear, but it needs the mic in the phone for them to hear you, and you left it in the other room.

I've been wearing hearing aids for over 20 years, and get new ones every 4 or 5 years as technology advances. I used to pay $6K - $8K at an audiologist, now I go to the audiologist at my local Costco (he's one with a lot of experience) and most recently got a pair of Jabra hearing aids for $1500, plus another $60 for custom ear molds. |
