Speaker advice

I am using an old pair of KEF 103.2 and a fairly new pair of  KEF ls50 speakers.

I thought the ls50s would be an upgrade but now I am not so sure.

That said, I need advice on an upgrade in this area.

Would like to keep the price below 2K but might go higher.

I want something like the 103s size wise because of the size of my room.

I am an old guy who does not listen to music loud anymore but would like a better presentation than what I am getting now.

My system consists of a Threshold Stasis 150, an Audio Research pre and a Parasound DAC and Velodyne sub.

I definitely would buy used.

You folks are great about giving advice and the forum is fun to read.

Happy listening!

The Tektons have low moving mass low excursion so I don’t think bomblike enclosures are really necessary. I’ve only heard the cabinets talk at very high volumes and then it could be the room being overloaded. I agree the impact monitors would give the Ls50 a heavy spankin especially if you are looking for a more full range sound.

@ael2955 Please tell us about your room and current speaker placement in the room?  Do you have any sort of reflection treatments?  Couple of panels could be life altering.

Maybe add other sub? Two subs is good subs. How I wax poetic and the subs placement can be peripatetic. (Moving 'em until they get it right is dynamite)

Agreed that the Tekton line won't win any beauty contests. But at their respective price points, they are an outstanding bargain. I owned an earlier version of the Pendragons about 15 years ago and my son currently has a pair of the Double Impacts. The DIs are much better than the Pendragons I owned and are a very serious contender in the 5K and under category.
