Go up a bit in budget and try a used Bricasti M3.
$2000 Dac
I have kept my eyes on the Dac comparisons. What I'd like to know is what Dac can I buy new or used for under $2000? I am looking for examples that don't throw the voices so far in front. Yes, I like the detail. I am coming from a Luxman dac that was very good, but I just felt the voices were too close, often pianos felt the same. Sometimes almost feeling a little glare as well. So, I am searching for a detailed dac with a little more laid back mids for under 2 grand, new or used. thanks

thank you for the suggestions. Yes, Garlubidor is a choice, even the Phantom if it ever arrives in the states. The Bricasti would be my choice if I had some extra money. Also the frips Ares and Pontus are a consideration. I've even thought about the Gustard r26 dac. I think I would like to try a ladder dac this time around. I have gone though many dacs, most sounding the same. However, I have never owned a ladder dac. Thanks for all the help |
I forgot to mention the R26 before and think that’d be a great option as well. You could add a Denafrips Iris DDC to this one and still be well under $2k. https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/650283782-gustard-r26-fully-broken-in-wacme-cryo-fuse/ |
