Sonus Faber Maxima Amator without the fancy

Aesthetics?  Love the sound but want to see if there’s something just like it without the fancy leather, marble stand and walnut casings.  I’m really new to this and shopping for speakers for my 11x22 space at home.  Tried these out in a store and they’re amazing but don’t care about t he fancy design.  Would love some advice!  Want to make it sound like the band is basically in my room, would love some pointers

They have to be against the wall if they’re facing the short side of the house.  I can pull them about 3 feet away if they’re facing the long side but then they’ll have to be 9 or 10 feet apart from each other so maybe that works, have to rearrange the space.
does anyone recommend an amp to get the most out of them?  The Moon 371 is $6,500, not sure if that’s more than necessary.  Thanks for all the advice, I greatly appreciate it.

Hey now!

Is the $15k for just the speakers or the whole set up?

What are your music sources now?  I am no longer listening to my old Dead cassettes or DATs. Everything is now ripped to FLAC.  Do you have a home music/media server?

I really enjoy the Dead and jazz on my Revel F208 but this are out of production now.

You can get the Revel F228Be for $3k each.

Then add a good subwoofer for maybe $3k.

Then get a good integrate amp with a network streamer or all in one streaming amp with the remaining budget.

The Tektons start to get happening at 5k and above starting with the Moab (not some mini lore) and shall give Faber a asswhooping.

But, are the Faber sales dwindling a bit, i womder? Some entities appear to be working the forums hard these days...In another thread recently,  it became the best speaker for 'rock n roll' somehow (cough cough). It is about to become the best speaker for jazz, reggae, blues and everything soon. The Italian stallions are on a roll man.

Try Tekton , same sound , but simple Cabinet , good price $ 700

What you get out of your system is the result of all components working together. If you optimize the system you will get components that have the sonic qualities that you value (big differences between different companies house sound). Some companies specialize in detailed trebly components, some in heavy bass, some very natural and musical. The speakers are the larges determinate, but not by a long shot the only. Second, the better the components (yes, you can read that more expensive) the better your system will sound. You want to shoot for balance so you have no weak links or no off the chart better components.

A known excellent and synergistic match with your speakers is Audio Research and for connections Transparent Audio cables and interconnects (you can do that later). I ended up with this combination after forty years of slowly building better systems. I did not go out to get this combo... I found one component after another. I have had Audio Research preamps for forty years. and phono stages for thirty five... but their amps for less than ten.

I found by experience that once I have optimized my system all the components tend to be at the same level of performance... and consequently cost. This has happened more than once. The proportion has been around 30% speakers 15% amp, 15% preamp, 15% DAC, and 15% streamer and 10% wires. You have to choose by synergy and performance not by price... but it ends up like this because of the care and quality that goes into the components.

I would recommend looking at Audio Research LS28SE preamp, VT 80 SE, and an Aurender N200 streamer. I have basically a Audio Research DAC 9... I am hesitant to recommend simply because it is a bit long in the tooth. Although if something happened to mine, I would repurchase one immediately. It is incredibly synergistic with the other ARC stuff.

I have a friend that has been building his system with my help for a number of years... he has the preamp and amp... and wishes he had bought an Aurender. He is happy with his Linn DAC / Streamer for sound quality be struggles with the interface.
