An Audiophile Nightmare

I woke up this morning and knew I had to share with my fellow AGoners a bit of humor only we would truly understand. Last night asleep, I was suddenly awakened by what was perhaps the single worst nightmare I've ever experienced--one of my speakers had been moved without my permission. That's right, the left speaker was off by at least 2 inches after having spent God knows how many days of precise measuring, re-measuring, and listening. Waking up this morning, I still sensed an unusual disturbance in the force until I walked into my den and suddenly realized that, yes, it was all just a horrible nightmare and that my precious center image was still intact. The relief was incredible, and my morning coffee and Wordle were like heaven!

Absolutely LOVED this postšŸ˜‚!! I’m so anally OCD about my gear that when I had an electrician over to run a dedicated 20Amp circuit for my rig, I moved my right front speaker so he could access the outlet. I could not have been more adamant and specific to him when I said ā€œDon’t worry about the speaker I’ll take care of it afterā€. I felt like really saying (and I probly should have) ā€œplease don’t touch the speaker I don’t want anyone touching it besides meā€šŸ˜‚ā€¦well lo and behold when he was done he comes and says all set and I put the speaker back for youā€. It took all I had to control myself as I was HORRIFIEDšŸ˜‚! The first thing my wife said was ā€œYou’re not getting new speakers so I’ll help you get it back in position and we’ll wipe the whole thing downā€

True story! Glad to know I’m not the only one with this issue…thanks for sharingšŸ˜‚

I remember those days. Now I accept disturbances to my cost limited system, in my acoustically challenged listening space. The only caveat to that is my insistence that NOBODY TOUCH THE TURNTABLE!!!
