@joysjane @hgeifman I have been in contact with Tammy who has been very responsive, and she said this is a top priority at A’gon management and are looking to have it fixed in the next few days. Hopefully they do because I also agree the site is currently so frustrating to use that I was about to just leave it’s so bad and just not worth it anymore, but as I mentioned above I’m now using Brave Browser that’s absolutely incredible, removes all ads, avoids all the constant refreshing/losing typing, and is lightning fast and free. Plus an AI search showed it’s much more secure than Chrome and even more secure overall than Safari (that I had been using), which I found quite surprising and reassuring. Anyway, hope this info is helpful and fingers crossed help is on the way.
Audiogon has gone too far, too fast with the ads!!!
I enjoy this site and completely understand and support their monetizing it more with ads, but it’s gone too far, too fast IMHO. First it ran far too slowly, which they thankfully have improved, but we’re still left with ads popping up all over the place to the point of being overly intrusive, distracting, and annoying at least in my experience. Past that, and even worse, if I try to post a response longer than a few sentences the site often refreshes and I lose what I’ve written, and that’s even with me proactively saving it as I’m typing (it happened twice while I typed this!!!) — this rarely happened before the advertising deluge. I just wish they’d back it off a bit at least until they can work out whatever limitations are causing these frequent and very frustrating issues. Or maybe it’s just me?

@kennyc YES!!! I was resorting to the same extremely annoying and time consuming workaround, which is really just absurd that we’re forced to have to jump through so many hoops just to simply post something. I’ve been posting looong responses using the Brave browser and haven’t had one problem whatsoever (probably because there are no more ads — none), and it’s a godsend! Seriously, my stress level and wasted time has dropped to zero compared to before. What I didn’t realize as much but was still annoying was how sloooowwww the site is using Safari, and it now takes half the time for me to get through the forums with absolutely none of the extreme hassles/frustration. Try Brave if you haven’t — you’ll be amazed at the difference. |
I've been on Brave for about 6 years. I've forgotten that Youtube has ads. I used Firefox with all sorts of extensions or whatever they call them including Ublock Origin No Script. Tried all sorts of configurations. Brave worked/works better than all of that almost straight out of the box. I stopped using Windows in 2019. I absolutely loathe that forced hijacking of my computer by that OS. I'm 100% certain that Windows by design hampers the use of privacy based browsers and apps. |
