@fastricky You can't go wrong with the ART-20. A particularly good tracking cart. You made a good choice over the Lyra IMHO. Would be interesting to compare to the Umami Red!? Probably a matter of sound preference.
Recommended a highly resolving cartridge
Hi all, all tube system that is warm with a good midrange presence inherently. I’m looking for a cartridge that offers high detail / resolution and wide / deep soundstage. This is on a stock SL-1200G TT. On a side note, if anyone has experience “upgrading” the stock tonearm on a G please chime in. I’ve read conflicting reports of the merits of such a move, and while I’m very happy with the tone of my TT and am not looking to move off of it, I am curious about a tonearm swap (must allow for headshell swapping).

I was the first internet joe public to report at stevehoffan.tv about the ART20. I've listened to a lot of systems since 1977 and the ART20 took my system to a place I've seldom heard. High resolution. High musical insight. A clear open window view of what is on the record in a high quality vinyl frontend. |
@joeycastillo I’ve used the Kandid on and off since it was launched about twelve years ago. It’s worked well for me in a Linn arm, but I’ve no idea whether it’d be a good match for a Technics. Although it is branded as Linn, it is a Lyra made cartridge.

The ART20 will be here Wed, it will be mounted immediately and listened to all night. I’ll be away for the weekend so won’t be able to put any hours on it additionally. Depending on how things go tomorrow (Wed) I’ll chime in with my reaction though I suspect I’ll want to wait until the cartridge has 10-20 hours on it. |
