| My new speakers Congrats on the Sonja 3.3s. I think you wil find over time that the YGs differentiate recordings to such an extent that they are endlessly entertaining. Give them time and they will open up a new musical world for you. | |
| Room treatments and acoustics…. How to begin? I second GIK. Great website, nice designs, effective acoustic panels. | |
| Any ladies in the audience? The audio community serves as proof of the old adage: "Women are generally interested in people. Men are interested in things." | |
| Most Paid for Vinyl LP I went through a period of splurging for "Better Records." In most cases, the recordings justified some premium, but I think I'm cured now. $200-$300 for a record is a fast route to the poor house. I have purchased new records for $40 that are the... | |
| Cable Break In for the Naysayers I've made many changes with speaker cables/interconnects over the years. The only changes to the sound I can be sure of are a lowering of the noise floor. | |
| Recommended a highly resolving cartridge @tablejockey. Obviously I missed it. No need to be a horse's arse. | |
| Recommended a highly resolving cartridge Check my listing here on Audiogon. It's for a brand new, unused, Audio Technica ART9xi, mounted on a beautiful headshell. It's all set up to plug and play with your SL1200G----that was the turntable I was using, but I sold it. Its a great cartridge. | |
| Review: Mad Scientist White Magic Interconnects Elephant tusks have medicinal properties. | |
| Well this link will start many arguments! New speakers--better bass. New amps--better bass. New preamp--better bass. New turntable--better bass. New cartridge--better bass. New speaker cables--better bass. New power cords--better bass. New power distributor--better bass. Better recording-... | |
| Well this link will start many arguments! I DO swear by cable lifters------they make vacuuming so much easier! | |
| Securing spade connectors Sounds like spades aren't a good match for the speaker. I just went through this with Transparent speaker cables and YG Sonja 2.2i's. I am going to have the spades changed to banana plugs. I bet you have a poor connection with the spades, as I did. | |
| Last Critical Tweak… how to quell occasional high harshness…? Look into ear oil. A few drops occasionally can prepare your aging ears for those bursts of trumpet. | |
| "audiophiles listen to their equipment" My interest in the system is greater than my interest in the music. When you have a precise, revealing system, with both power and control, you can enjoy music you don't like to a far greater extent than you would otherwise, particularly if it has... | |
| Have you reached your end point with this addictive hobby? Some great comments here. I'm probably a classic case of always wondering if there's (significantly) more. The only cure is to turn the system on and play some well-recorded vinyl to remind myself that my system is more than okay. | |
| speaker upgrade from Magico A3 Given your satisfaction with Magico, I would look at the A5's, or, there is a pair of YG Hailey 1.2's for sale right now on Audiogon. I have owned a pair of these for less than a year and they are amazing speakers with peerless build quality. |
