McIntosh mx110z Tube Tuner Preamp all the frills, and a tube tuner as well, why not if it sounds awesome. I use a SUT for my LOMC so I can keep using the mx110z’s MM Phono this is what convinced me to try one. I used mine for 2 years then had Audio Classics refurb mine, the best thing they did was change all the jack panels to new gold plated rca jacks. https://positive-feedback.com/Issue77/vintage_mcintosh_experience.htm feature full, I’m not living without my McIntosh Mode Switch, a great tool when adjusting my speaker’s L-Pads, and Mono Mode listening to Mono LPs. some already restored, pick one https://www.hifishark.com/search?q=mx110z .......................................... for remote volume, and remote balance, I use one of these Chase RLC-1 remote line controllers. You can use it optionally thru the tape monitor loop, doesn’t matter, no one here has ever been able to detect if it is in or out, simply benefit from it’s features. I use one in each of my 3 systems: Main; Office; Shop/Garage

@maverick2108 +1 on Aric Audio Super 6SN7; smallish footprint, and I put in a couple of Ray Reserve 6SN7 tubes and my goodness what a lush lovely but powerful sound with dynamics galore. I found it quite superior to my Herron Audio 360 line-stage preamp which I'd enjoyed for years, though I am keeping my Herron Audio phono preamp. Aric is great to talk to about this stuff, too. |
Accuphase C2420 or newer C2450 with AD2820/2850 phono (optional) module. It has two independent phono inputs, with variety of MC/MM settings, excellent headphones’ amp, subsonic filter, low/high adjustments, plenty of bal/un-bal inputs. Works well driving class A and AB Accuphase amps, Luxman tube amp, and all other amps in my collection! |
