if you had this system, what would you do to make it sound the best you can
If it were my system, add a stereo pair of subs. Something small and fast like REL T7/x or T9/x depending on size of room. Spend the time learning about positioning and dialing them in properly.

How would you spend my next $5K?
+1 for second sub. I'm a dual sub convert. Tap the high level with those REL and run a true LR sub just outside your mains. I got a lot of extra soundstage width and the bass response was improved.
Giving Advice without recommending your own equipment
Your observations are accurate. You are asking advice from owners. It's unlikely they would miss the opportunity to demonstrate their excellent choices in gear. Instead of seeking impartial advice in this forum, do your own research and supplement...
Dog pissed on speaker
Anyone else wondering what Klipsch horns sound like to a dog?

Intermittent audio dropouts when streaming Qobuz Hi Res files on Lumin streamer

My New Year’s Wish for my fellow audiophiles.
When you said to "find the balance," I immediately remembered that I hadn't yet tried the XLR out on my DAC to my new pre.  Thank you for this timely nudge!!! 😜
Why "bookshelf" sspeakers?
For smaller spaces and near-field listening, I usually prefer a good bookshelf speaker. With a pair of stereo subs dialed in properly, you may wind up with a better experience than the tower equivalent in the same line. I have some 11 pair on-han...
Tube preamp match with Solid Stare amp
+1 for both the Backert Labs and Rogue Audio recommendations. I've run both and it's hard to pick a winner. The Rogue RP-7 (balanced but no phono) seems fuller and warmer, and that Backert just has magic inside. I'd be happy with either so get bot...
