What processor?

I am building a home theater using PMC OB1s in front and wafers in wall. Currently have a Jl Audio 113 sub and Parasound Halo 250 watt amps. I am still waiting for the next great big display 75" that is reasonably priced. Maybe 5 to 7k. Here's the question, need a great processor. It seems to me that the video processing is unneeded as an Oppo and a good display should be able to be calibrated to handle this. So, it seems that it's all about the sound, music and movies.Suggestions? Bryston, Classe or??? This is an item that should last a long time. Thanks

The Classe' SSP-800 is my favorite at the price point. The Meridian 861v6 is awesome but a two box solution (and no 3D if that matters to you) and it is pretty expensive.
Give the Emotiva XMC-1 a good look. Comes with TacT room correction. Not released yet, but Emo claims a Q1 2013 release. And the price is waaayyyy below that of the usual suspects at $1499.

last a lonng time Bryston and superb service IF needed.
I have an NAD T175HD pre/pro that I am very pleased with for HT and music. The newer model is the T187 and it does not have any video processing onboard for the same reasons you stated.

The NAD T187 retails for $3000.00. Here is a great deal at Spearit Sound.

Anthem D2 followed by the Anthem 50v. If you really want to test the more expensive waters, consider the SimAudio pre.
"I am still waiting for the next great big display 75" that is reasonably priced. Maybe 5 to 7k."

Is that 5 to 7k for the pre/pro or the display? If it is for the pre/pro, then I will have to agree with the Anthem D2 or the Anthem 50v. It really is hard to do much better than an Anthem.

I would add the Cary Cinema 12 to your list also.

***Cary dealer disclaimer***
Gonna spend hopefully 5 to 8 k on a new display if one ever comes out. Willing to spent the necessary cash for a quality processor for both movies and music. What I have been reading lately says that you really don't need a processor for video as it is handled by an Oppo and calibration of your display for TV. Is the new Anthem kind of overkill? 3D etc.
Have had Cary processors c11a last and Theta C3..

DO TRY TO LISTEN TO THE BRYSTON..it is best I heard and rock stable. anologue section is as great...
Meridian. Everything else is a compromise. Find a G61R or G68 and upgrade with the latest firmware. You can't beat it.
Thanks for all of the input. Lots to consider. It seems to me that room correction is fairly important as this is my den and it bleeds into 3 other rooms. I have been doing a lot of reading trying to get as much education as I can as my current unit is a 14 year old Onkyo Receiver. An Antique to say the least.
A must consider is the new Marantz 8801, I have it paired to an Halo A21 with an Oppo 105 and can't say enough good things about it!
