Thinking of changing my solid state pre amp

I’ve had Macintosh and I am using C-J ET3.
i am looking for a workhorse solid state preamp that can log plenty of hours because I listen to music constantly in my house. I enjoy my C-J but thinking of tinkering with my system.

Really tough question, so I have a few to help others chime in:
What type of music do you listen to?
How loud do you listen?
What other gear will go along with the pre? (amp/speakers etc)
What is your budget?

I use a C-J MF-2550 for my amp and Totem Winds for my speakers.
i listen to whatever my family will let me get away with as far as music goes, and nothing too loud unless someone wants to dance.
i can’t break 5 digits for my budget.

Why not look at the Schiit Freya, it has the very best relay switched volume control, also you can choose between passive mode, solid state mode or tube mode on the fly to suit your mood/s, also comes with remote.
Has 5 inputs xlr and se and 3 outputs xlr and se.
Designed by Mike Moffat of Theta fame. The best bit it’s only $699!! And you can trial it for 15 days.

Why not stick with CJ? If you have a CJ amp that would be the best match. I know, change for change sake and then later regret for the "one that got away."
@georgehifi The Freya would be a giant step down from any CJ preamp in my opinion.
Muse Model 3 Signature
Wyred 4 Sound STP-SE
Bel Canto Pre1... Pre2.... Pre3 (all 3 are very good)

I will never get rid of my C-J. They r champagne golden in my book.
i would like to play a little, and try some other brands out.
But my amp, I think that’s my home run piece, really.
I didn't mention this in the 3 that I posted, but actually the Conrad-Johnson Premier 18LS is an excellent pre, I have seen it once or twice below $1000.  All the models that I have listed are excellent performers and will do a great job with your 2550 & Totems,
Good Luck with your search.

I only mentioned it, as it is a "work horse" as you say, has many different flavours for $699, got the goods under it's skirt, I admit it's not a glamour like the CJ, and can be sent back if not liked.

Are you using the stock tube in the ET3?    The gold lion 6922 sounds great in my Classic 2SE...  huge improvement over stock EH 6922 , lasts long and super quiet.
Changing the tube is a really nice idea. Another step in the audio journey...
everyone has been great with ideas. My 13 y/o son & I have been talking constantly about choices, thanks for all the input.
Decided to get a C-J ET-5.
have been really happy with it.  A bit better build quality and a bit better response from my system.
